Hi I'm will, a young automotive photographer. I was wondering if anyone here would like a full photo shoot of their car(s)? I'm based in Stroud, and since I haven't done many shoots, I will. Not be charging a high price at around £10.

Examples of my work can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/wpscars/

I am sure some car owners might well be interested in full photo shoots of their cars. But as to how much (if anything) they would be prepared to pay?

As an approach to develop your venture could I suggest you contact the organisers of classic car shows and attend / take photos with a link to the shows website and possibly sell individual photos through their website? This would 'build your brand' by helping you develop a portfolio / contacts.

For example next Sunday (3rd Sept) is the Tetbury Classic Car Show http://www.tetburyclassiccarshow.org/ Tetbury is only about 10 miles from Stroud, so not too far to travel.
Their website has a link to previous years shows http://www.tetburyclassiccarshow.org/2016.html

QUOTE: "Friend of the show George Sulkowski has been kind enough to send us a link to his intriguing photo collection from 2016. Enjoy! https://sulkowski.exposure.co/classic-cars-in-the-...
2016 - Catherine Davis Photos
Professional photographer Catherine Davis has been kind enough to share these next thirty photos with us. Please contact her if you'd like a high res version or permission to use them. She reserves all rights to these images.

You're welcome. Best of luck.

From past experience, promoters of these shows will send a report of their event, together with links to photo websites, to local newspapers. This could, of course, be another form of advertising for you.
I suggest you send links to photos, within a day or so of the event, to the organisers welcoming them to 'use' the photos with the proviso that you reserve the rights (overprint the photos with your website - see Catherine Davis' photos of Tetbury Classic Car Show 2016 as an example).

When you are attending and taking photos carry with you a high quality printed portfolio of your work to show to prospective clients. Have some business cards with your details on as an aide-memoire for interested parties. Flyers are probably too hit or miss.
If you see the owner with the car ask their permission before snapping - that way you can engage them in conversation (directing it away from their car to your taking pictures ........... of their car!)
At one show I went to a photographer was chatting to an owner, who wasn't keen on actually paying for a photoshoot, but I overheard the car owner's wife ask the photographer to do a shoot of the car as a surprise birthday present.

Great to see someone young trying to get ahead.Agree with everything the above poster said, but would add that you maybe need to do a bit more.
Your offer of a full photo shoot - what does that mean?
Studio shoot? Location shoot? If the latter, where?
How long will it take?
What will the results be like? What are your qualifications?
You may be offering a low price, but that's meaningless unless people know what they might be getting. And the amount of work it entails.
Getting into photography is very hard. There will be a lot of 'giveaways', relationship builders, people taking advantage etc. You are going to have to put a lot of effort in, get a website produced Oh - and reveal your real name!
All the best and I hope it works for you!

Yeah I agree with all of that, I'll keep those in mind when organising a shoot next. The feedback is much appreciated smile

If you're ever down in Cornwall I'd be happy to pay for a few decent pics of my old E30. I'm always looking for pics to go with the blog I write for PBMW magazine.

Hi Will, I'd be happy to take you up on your offer. I'm near Chippenham, so a good excuse for me to have a drive over to Stroud! Car is a 2011 Jaguar XKR. Drop me a PM.

Cheers, Grant
