Area for teaching a learner - between Bristol & WSM

I'm starting to teach my son to drive so looking out for an area like a large deserted car park etc where he can learn the basic safely.

Is there anywhere local to the A370?

I used Avonmouth on a Sunday when the wife first learned, practically empty!

Weston beach - did many hours around the beach when I was learning, just make sure the tide is out! If you go down Uphill end you will normally find a few people doing the same.

Westonzoyland - also used this although because of its novelty nature it can get quite busy on a weekend.

Locking Road coach park - on the weekend the buses/coaches are all parked up so you can drive around the coach area of the car park.

Failing that then Avonmouth on a weekend is dead as has already been mentioned.
