Assuming most of us (except Glen) are happy with the 28th and the idea of a blat through the Cotswolds, what would be the best starting point and, for that matter, any ideas on a rough route?

So what are you implying?

Sorry to hear about the fun with the glass - I think that might have given me a Tourets moment

I've been giving this some thought. So far, I've determined that the route should start somewhere in Bristol and take us to Tetbury. Avoiding the M4.

Well, she did say you'd been away for a few days

I was quite vocal on the subject.

Re the route to Tetbury, I reckon Yertis has it bang on

The route i normally take is the obvious route from Bristol, out kingswood way on the A420, join the A46 & head to the M4, straight across & right on the A433, good straight overtaking roads & the easiest route, we may even all be able to stick together!

We could meet somewhere around Longwell Green, maybe another meet point at the top of Togg hill (though watch out for wierdos).

That's the way I was thinking of going.
The other alternative is to go via Yate/Chipping Sodbury & link up with the A46 that way, but that's not as nice a run.

Can't remember if "we" are heading for a specific curry house. If so, best commit to numbers & get it booked...

I always reckon the A46 south of the M4 is always too busy (although the 2 lane uphill section going up to the race course is fun). How about taking the B4465 via Pucklechurch?

As a meet "virgin" - what is going on? A run from Bristol and then a curry? Another run (or THE runs!) after the curry?

I'm in Cirencester and my VX220 and I would like to come along, prob not for the meal but always interested in a blat...

You're asking us?

You'll soon learn that we don't have much of a clue until the last minute...

But yes, this time its a run from Bristol to Tetbury, pause for a curry & then back to base. Usually tend to kick off around 7.30.

Yertis is to blame for us travelling all the way to Tetbury so I think he should do the honours and nominate a pub and a curry house and deal with the booking.

I'll be there, but not in a hooning vehicle I'm afraid, (carting too much junk around with me this week). Dammit, I was going to sow off my new toy too..

So, once you've sorted the venue out, I'll join you for a swift half and a curry..

This site recommends the Bengal Lancer.

However, Yell.com has it listed as a takeaway and try as I might with every combination of search terms I can dream up, I can't persuade Yell to come up with an indian restaurant in Tetbury.

Anyone know of one, or is it just a pipe dream?

Bengal Lancer is a restaurant as well as a take away. Never been there mind you.

I'm keeping a low profile now - lurk mode having disgraced myself on Saturday. Anyway, I've spoken with the Bengal Lancer and he is not a licensed restaurant - basically a takeaway with tables in, but "we do something for you sir!" So not up to my usual curry-prospecting standards by the sounds of it - if we go there we might have to rough it. In my experience One Horse Town curry houses are either excellent (because they need all the trade they can get) or ghastly (because they know the locals have no choice).

I probably can't go anyway...

Didn't like the way "a person" was talking to 968 (not that he needed my help), shot from the hip, got a from Ted. I stand by what I said, but my delivery was ill-thought.
