...noticed anything missing in the area just lately?

Cos whilst I was on the way to get the KFC that I am currently filling my face with, I noticed the speed camera on the A370, heading into weston just after you've gone past Hutton Moor sports centre.

Or rather didn't notice it.

[big][big][big][b]It's GONE!!!!!!![/b][/big][/big][/big] :D

Only a stump remains. Looks a bit like someone invested in a large 4 wheel drive vehicle and took it upon themselves to relocate the camera.....

Hopefully not further back down the road on the stretch between Morrisons and the roundabout with the A371. There's been the white marker lines on the carriageway there for yonks, but no camera.

Was in Weston this weekend, but didn't notice it missing. Then again I was heading out that way as I'd come in the other side by the hospital.

Like Guillotine, I recon it wasn't making enough money as there's always a queue from that roundabout, hence slowing everyone down.

Be careful round the 30 limit on the Winterstoke estate as they often park their Talivan along there. Hard to spot if you're concentrating on the road

There was a camera there the day the road open, which exposed years ago the lie about KSI's etc. How could there be a need for a camera on a new road?

Anyway that one got pulled down a long time ago when the first backlashes started about camera siting. The one by McDonalds/KFC/etc went a few weeks back, I think more likely because it wasn't catching anyone than because it got destroyed.

Yeah, but the lines on the carriageway were taken away along with the camera. Then suddenly, several months ago, the lines were repainted. But no camera was installed.

True enough - infact it's odder than that - didn't the lines re-appear on the opposite carriageway to where the camera had been?

Ah so it's not me going mad! I did think that was the case, but didn't say in case it was the old grey matter playing tricks on me. Again.

Yes, I do remember the original camera being on the other side of the road.

Oh dear, it looks like the camera which was the subject of the original posting is now back....

I find it hard to believe it catches anyone, but I suppose it must.

I don't think it is back..

I come in to work that way every day and I'm pretty certain it's been gone for the last couple of weeks.

Maybe I'll ask my boss where it went (I work in transport for the council), but one has cropped up on Abbots Leigh Road.

Trust me, it's back, I drove past it last night at 6 and it wasn't there, this morning at 8:15 it was.

We're talking about the one by mcdonalds etc. not the one on the stretch by morrisons.

Yep, swines!

It's a pointless camera. I suppose though it's there to catch the pikeys who hold their own version of the BTCC along the dual carriageway of a nighttime. Not that they're quite stupid enough to get caught by it......

An an aside, why would someone whose sign-in name is 'flooritforever' have owned such a long line of Rovers?

If I see any Rover around WsM which appears to have the accelerator stuck to the floor, I'll know its you..

Cos you need to floor it to get any kind of decent pace out of them. Also because fate has a horrible habbit of rewarding my hard work and efforts to better myself with a shovelful of st to the face.

If the camera is where it was then I dont think its pointless (bear with me on this)

Its only about 500yds from the roundabout and if it makes people slow sufficiently to then be able to stop before plowing into the backed up traffic then its a good idea! (Just pray they dont put it on the opposite carriageway where it'd really be an inconvenience)

Sorry for the delayed reaction to this post - not been in this bit for a while. Just to add weight to KITT's note. The missus got caught on this section doing 52mph at 6.20 on a bright weekday morning about four years ago. Hidden camera by the Vauxhall garage -
No-one else on the road, but it cost five points and 275quid. BiB always used to put a marked car close to the McD's roundabout, cos the station is just round the corner.

Well it's gone again now.

It's still listed on their camera website though :

www.safecam.org.uk/CameraSites/CameraDetails.aspx?CameraID=92

Thought there had to be 4 KSI's to warrant a fixed camera?
If you look through the details of the mobile camera sites around Weston, you'll see accidents are rising since 2002 when the mobile scam vans started. Not very effective considering the money they take in the name of safety! Piss poor really!
