Just a warning, over the last 2 weeks I've seen the Police parked up at various spots between Cadnam and Godshill on Roger Penny Way with a laser out the window.

Don't get me wrong, I welcome speed enforcement in the New Forest due to the amount of animal deaths, especially on this road but just giving you a heads up! smile

Would they stop you there and then if caught speeding or can then issue it at a later date? It wasn't a camera van, but a land rover with laser pointing our side window.

Thanks, they are really targeting the area. Most sneaky is on the left as you enter Godshill, they catch people coming from the Fordingbridge direction, it is now a 30mph limit. They also position themselves on the road between Fordingbridge and Sandleheath. They won't give you a ticket then, it will arrive in the post.... They are also about at some unlikely times, so even very early or fairly late you can be caught...

Is that road within the New Forest limited area? If so, I guess they've had dead animals & so unsurprising if the van is out.

Worth getting Waze if you don't already have it on your phone , free app , great for nav but also speed cameras you can notify one when you spot one, it's a live system, the more people who use it the better it will become , it piggybacks google maps for nav so pretty good

Yes, part of it is and they regularly have a speed trap about 4 miles from Brook towards Fordingbridge, just after a crossroads where you right to Nomansland. It is at the top of a hill and quite easy to spot. The one at Godshill is in a 30mph limit, newly introduced, and catches lots as 90% of the Forest is a 40mph blanket limit. No animals where it is as beyond the cattle grid... Likewise the one in Sandleheath...

Seems they've moved from the usual 'top of the hill spot' Not a camera van but seen an unmarked fiesta with a copper and speed gun stood next to it along 3 different points this weekend. Not just layby's either, one they were simply on the verge and very difficult to spot as no big battenberg car.

To be fair I've seen lots of dead animals on this route so I'm all for enforcement on this road.

All the Newsquest website are horrendous! It's marginally better with ad-blocker and pihole running on the network though.

84 along that stretch, fking hell. Even on a quiet, clear summers day that's just crazy, let alone this time of year.

For peace of mind I ALWAYS assume Plod is about when in the New Forest as exceeding the blanket 40mph speed limit is a total waste of time only very occasionally making a microscopic difference to travelling times so it makes it pointless. Actually 35mph is more relaxing so enjoy the views, beware the wild life & chill. Agree the new 30mph limits 'just' outside the NF boundary can catch you out.

I think these are the roads that that Subaru driving nutter Eric made one of his infamous U Tube Videos.., certainly looked like New Forest Roads.

They've had a fair number of cyclists killed too on one of the junctions out that way, which may be a factor in the current clampdown as its been all over the local media of late......
