Pretty epic drive out today gents. Was brilliantly organised and seemed like everything went our way. Not a soul to be seen apart from us on the roads at dawn, evidentally from the brief dual carriageway pause for khare and the breakdown! Some great spirited driving at the right time and right place. West country was like a ghost town..

Roll on the next one. Brecon beacons sounds good to me. Evo triangle!!??

Kill two birds with one stone me and the mx5 crew will be up the brecons SUNDAY 1ST JULY. Horneys running that. Forgot what his name was on here..

I think it must have been some of you I saw yesterday morning coming back along the A303 wavey - Porsche, Volvo, Golf, Megane and Civic spring to mind, probably around 10.30ish near Mere. Looks like you guys had some decent weather, and I'm liking the drone videos, reminds me how spectacular Cheddar is.

Been looking at a Dawn Dash pt. 2 today....

Thought I'd test the water with this lap around Exmoor: https://tinyurl.com/y9ylj6gr

An earlier start would be required if people are keen. The route to the start point at Bolham would be direct (boring) A303, A358 and M5, in order to make the most of the quiet roads on the lap once we arrive.

Let me know what you think! Conscious this may be a bridge too far for some.

If people are interested, I'll start a new thread where we can discuss potential dates. Weekends tend to get very busy for everyone as we approach the summer months (or at least when the summer weather decides to turn up!)

WOW, thats one hell of a drive for one day, driving time alone is a minimum of 9 hours for me. Some 400 miles, average fuel cost about £80+ be a great drive I'm sure, but hopefully, there has got too be something more local, like a dash too the coast somewhere , say Dorset or Brighton, just saying.

I'm in date dependant, You picked another great area to drive in , some more great roads , for those who don't want an early start they could stay locally the night before, I would suggest we avoid the school summer holidays when tts with caravans etc try to beat the traffic & also many will have family commitments

Just going on what David says that sounds like a hell of a lot of driving, especially since a fair bit will no doubt be in a spirited manor. I would be worried about tiredness especially with a early start. Maybe a coastal run would be nice but I'm afraid that's about as far as my ideas stretch at the moment. Might do a bit more research later and see what I find.

Personally I would prefer something a bit shorter but I'm not saying I wouldn't be up for it. I'm grateful for any sort of run being organised so i would probably still attend.

ETA right of the top of my head mudeford can be nice what with the new forest. Maybe a lap around there somewhere. One problem is all the caravans and 40 everywhere brigade that type of place atracts. Only straight of the top of my head so I have no idea of a route at all.

Or maybe brecon beacons although that would be another long day.

Great fun chaps,

Thanks to Aly, the chap in the huracán and in the 4C for stopping when my throttle decided to striptease.

Looking forward to the next outing already.
Apologies for not doing likewise. Looked like you were in good hands already. smile
Also I wasn't sure if you were in radio range so decided to play catch up to the convoy.

There are 15 cars in your pics at the Gorge, so my best guess is above.
No Vauxhall VX8 so I'm assuming it was 02joe in the Huaracan Spyder?
There is also one which isn't on that list. A third MX5 (Jack 1988)

If the plan is to visit Brecon or Devon there won't be much alternative. rolleyes
It would mean an overnighter for me. I'm censored if I'm going to get up and start driving at 1am!

The Triangle is much overrated imo. Not to mention the negatve publicity associated with it.
Large convoys are likely to attract undue attention. There are more interesting, and better, roads in Wales.

Brecons can and will be done this year. Just about close enough to do in a day with early enough start.

For me, Snowdonia would benefit greatly from a journey up the evening before and staying over. Something I could look at organising.

As for the New Forest, 40mph plus the number of animals and cyclists everywhere, is not fun for all parties when mixed. Great if you just want to do a pub lunch outside somewhere but for driving it's not much fun, apart from the 30 second section going east from The Drift Inn to Beaulieu Rd.

Exmoor, as Stuart mentioned, does have some great roads and landscape. Namely the A39 which links Minehead to Barnstaple, take a look at that on the link I shared. Exmoor could even warrant an overnight for some I expect!

For those that have already expressed an interest for Exmoor, does Sunday 8th July work?
