Drove down there on Thursday. If cameras aren’t operational, a sign is usually displayed to that effect but there were no such signs so assume they’re operational.

They are placed quite high to prevent any bin liners, being blown around in the wind, to accidentally cover the cameras.

Saw these for the first time last week on the way to my Dad's coming out of East Tisted. I guess I understand why they are needed, but pretty disappointed anyway, average speed cameras are just so tedious, even if they do the job they're there for.

Two pairs are now fully deployed and active. The other sets won't be long at all. I'm not sure but I think there are still a few more sites to install further along the roads in each direction so the average section will be quite extensive when complete.

Will they be covering the section between Farringdon and East Tisted do we know?

Yep it’s kind of irrelevant now, not worth risking speeding near any of the cameras.

Been down there today, I got paranoid between East Tisted and Farringdon, saw no cameras but got paranoid anyway. To re ask the question, does anybody know if the cameras will make their way up to the Alton roundabout?

Unlikely, they’re concreted into the ground..

lol, fair point.

I guess my thought was and saying it another way, it seems odd to start the cameras at East Tisted given the BMW dealer in Farringdon. Maybe a councillor or two ride BMW's and live in Alton :-)

My Dad pointed out to me that maybe average speed cameras can’t work across different speed limits? So going from NSL out of Farringdon into 40 at East Tisted then back to NSL makes it unworkable? Or maybe we’re totally wrong?

There’s a camera before and after the speed limit change IIRC.

I went from east to west on the 272, anyone know if they will continue the average speed cameras after the bp garage?

Why not? If the speed is 40 in one section then 50 in another the time to get between the two will always be the same if doing the limit?

Yeah, true. We didn’t really give it too much thought.

Also, I've just remembered that my Waze up was showing the speed limit at 50, not 60, after the NSL sign outside East Tisted where the average speed cameras start. I assume Waze was wrong, but I went 50 just in case.....anyone found similar??

I don't think the limits have changed, just now there are average speed cameras covering various sections. No more spirited riding/driving in the national sections.

PH where spirited driving matter's hehe it was more their choice of unusual colour scheme and placement that confused me
