I'll be in Southampton on Friday picking up the Mrs new car and am wondering if there's any nice pubs on the outskirts to get a pint and some lunch?

I'll be travelling down the A36 from the West so something on that side of the city would be needed.

Cheers.

Sorry, I got the details wrong. I'll actually be going to Eastleigh (M4 > A34) so a pub round there would be gerat.

The Cart and Horses at Kingsworthy is worth a visit, IMO. Used to do the mother of all mixed grills . Decent too..

I'm in Eastleigh most weekends.

10 minute drive from Eastleigh... The Farmers Home in Durley (nice pub, cracking roast)

or more to choose on The GGG

The Cart used to be good before it was bought out and turned into just another platic pub. If you're in that are though I'd turn right and head towards Alresford. A couple of miles up the road you get to Easton which has 'The Chestnut Horse' If you miss the turn you'll stumble upon 'The Trout' which also has great food. God forbid you miss that, if you do, turn right and go to 'The Bush' at Ovington.
I wouldn't bother with anything in Eastleigh personally.

Ended up in the Cart as it was right by the garage and with both of our abilities to get completely lost we went for the easy option. I have to say that the food was very nice, much better than most pubs round here.

While we were there a nice light green Cerbera which looked like it was covered in Gumball stickers drove past. Anyone on here?
