Need somewhere to do a Clarkson and 'listen to that engine' (in a TVR, of course) in Dorset, but haven't found anything longer than a few yards, so far .... (train tunnels won't count ... too bumpy!)

Sandbanks road in Lilliput/Whitecliff. Only about 40ft long but if you get up at 4am you have the road to yourself and can just stop in the tunnel and rev up for ages biggrin

Bu**er. Beat me to it. clap

That'll be the one I was thinking of, Horn Hill tunnel.

You'd have thought though, with all these hills someone would've drilled a hole in one!

Wellington Road, Bournemouth, nr Bournemouth Royal Mail sorting office.

It's a wee tunnel under the A338 Wessex Way, only 50yds long, but the acoustics are excellent. If your car is capable of cacophony then you'll find out there.

Another good spot is across town in Yelverton Road, down the side of the Evening Echo offices. The buildings either side of this single width 1-way street are all 4-5 stories high, and it's the same as being in a tunnel. Wonderful.

Enjoy, and watch out for the cops smile

wellington rd! lick it's a bit desperate, but in an area without many other enclosed spaces i often detour there in the Tiger with it's S/S kit - 1 reason why i haven't bothered fitting a stereo system! will look the beaminster tunnel up smile

Lived just down the road from Wellington Road until recently, and didn't even know it existed...
I'm going to pop into town later and shall take a detour via there smile

A few options then ... off to find the map. I've also tried the covered area of Asda's car park (opposite Poole railway station) and although not a tunnel as such, a run up the narrow street (one-way) into Wimborne can rattle some windows wink

Not a tunnel, but I'm a fan of Glyde Path Road as it emerges onto the high street in Dorchester. Really narrow and high buildings both sides cool

I'm sure any decent rev-up could be heard down most of the high street biggrin

--

Also there's a good railway bridge over Chickerell road in the centre of Weymouth. It's traffic light controlled being narrow, but it's usually quiet so you can slow down or stop under it and make some noise.

The Beaminster tunnel road has a bit of a kink both ends, so be careful not to come in or out of it too hot.

As you'll appreciate, in this part of the world you need to exploit what's available, as there isn't much about. At certain times of night, empty levels of multi-story car parks are very similar to tunnels... the one by the Dolphin Centre has long stretches... rolleyes

LOL

I have to admit I've done that as well.
The multi by asda next to the train station. No, I didn't have my stereo set to deafen either wink
Terrified the "rude-boys" when i hit 6000rpm under there though, christ knows what they'd make of a noisy car! hehe
