The cameras on the Wessex Way (inside Bournemouth 50mph limits) are normal speed cameras. At least 2 of the 8 cameras (5 southbound, 3 northbound) are always active, and sometimes as many as 4 of them are.

They are not SPECs though, and thank God for that. I'm not aware of any initiative to introduce anything like that on the road. Although there are occasional accidents, I'm not aware of any data which blames speeding for any of it, and damage is as much to do with the fact that there are no barriers on the outside of the carriageways, so cars seem to end up in the trees regardless of what speed they're doing.

I'm sorry to hear that because it so tempting to keep it nailed after the roundabout perhaps with a touch of opposite lock depending on how hard your pressing on!
Useful advice zed thanks for that!

Well whatever the hell they are they're pointing at the road so I guess if you want to move your nuclear weapons out of Bournemouth without the funny people noticing you'd better take the back roads from now on.

wink

I took time out to take a closer look at them and they look similar to the traffic master cameras. My mate who has a radar/camera detector says he has never picked up a signal from them and thinks they have been there sometime. If they are they are capable of recording part of the middle letters of the numberplate and the information is encrypted. The encryption is not supposed to be reversible (Ha ha). They are supposed to monitor the journey times of random cars but the information is not used for speed related instances.(not yet anyhow).I will let you know if I get a ticket for speeding in 14 days.Meanwhile beware! Better safe than sorry.
