i know it's a turn of phrase, but maybe it wasn't luck.
It was a turn of phrase, calm yourself. However if you want to get existential, I know a lots of moderately well off people (and some skint ones) who work hard and smart but still don't have £5 million or so to chuck at toys. I also know some people who do have that kind of money and who will readily admit that they were in the right place at the right time and had their hard work pay off in a big way. Luck can have a hand in success, don't get too hung up on it, it doesn't have to be an envy thing.

if someone calls me lucky it tends to fk me right off! So, I wouldn't do it to others.
Why? Are you in a good situation?I am, two healthy kids, loving wife, good health. fk me I'm lucky! I'm grateful for it. Nobody gave me this but I'm still grateful for it
There is plenty I could moan about but it doesn't serve me well to do so. Dwell on the good stuff, feel good about it. What's wrong with that?

And now I've just seen a Bugatti Chiron followed by a Bugatti Veyron burble through Wilmslow. Wow.
Both IGOE cars, a PHer?
I saw those in Knutsford as well. The Chiron is the most beautiful, extraordinary car I've seen on the road. It took me back to being an excited kid seeing a Ferrari or something. Both IGOE cars, a PHer?
Makes the Veyron look boring.

Couldn't agree more. I could always admire the Veyron as an amazing piece of engineering, utterly brutal but I never really loved the look of it. The Chiron takes that brutality and makes it look stunning as well. Makes the Veyron look boring.

i don't think i am particularly wealthy but there's always someone to try and make you feel st about what you do have, in this country. There is always someone who sneers the word lucky in that passive aggressive you-wanted-to-say-a-different-word-didn't-you kind of way. The issue I have with it is that sometimes people do feel lucky, that they are really thankful for what they have... they definitely don't need another person telling them it. It nearly always is code for jealousy or bringing someone down a peg or two, or hate, or other negative things. I've never heard it used in a positive way.
Well today was a first for you because I genuinely meant it in a positive non-jealous way. XM5ER said:

Well today was a first for you because I genuinely meant it in a positive non-jealous way. Did anyone see the other (not IGOE) Chiron in Manchester this week? The blue one at the Lowry. A couple of vids have appeared on Youtube to prove I'm not making it up! Youtube clicky
