Hi All

I was wondering whether anyone had any personal recommendations for a detailer in the Macclesfield area?

Cheers!

Cheers. He's about an hour away, so could be doable.

Any idea if he does it mobile, or prefers to have the cars come to his workshop?

I can highly recommend Finer Details

I took my month-old A1 to him in 2011. Great job. It's the grey one in his photo gallery with 18 pics

Mat prefers to work from his unit.

Go to detailing world and then The Studio to see his latest work.

He is on facebook etc if that is easier.

Now that last one is particuarly interesting, coz he's in the same town as me, which is very convenient.

Proper detailing, not 'just' a good valeter?

He isn't that local to the OP, but Chris Griffiths is a very skilful detailer. I took my car in for him to work on an indifferent respray which had been done on my old Jag - and turned it into something far more impressive. Indeed the paint was poor enough that I was contemplating having it done again before I took it to him - and he made it good enough for me to decide it didn't need doing again.

In was especially impressed that he was able to all but remove the urethane wave down the sides of the car. This was my primary gripe with the respray - that it had the telltale shimmer in the paint down the side when viewed at an oblique angle. This is so common on resprays (you see horrors at every car show) and ruins them to my eyes - though of course not everyone can see it, or even cares. Chris Griffiths improved it to the extent that it is now only visible when kneeling and looking up at the car over your shoulder into the light at an acute angle. I think that is good enough!

He was also able to significantly clarify the paint, which prior to his work was somewhat milky. It is now crystal clear.

I was also impressed by his interest in cars generally - not just fancy kit - and that he is very gentle with them. He is not one of those who take a load of clearcoat off.

This photo was taken earlier this year - the car was detailed in IIRC 2015-ish - so it has kept its shine!

Edited to add: The picture seems a bit big! I'm just getting used to Flickr as a Photobucket refugee!
