Hoping for some advice from anyone living around this area.

Whats the traffic like in the mornings and evenings heading into central manchester? Scoot through Knutsford etc? or M6 / A556 / M56?

Whats the parking conditions at Goostery or Holmes Chapel? The car park appears small and compact.

Car to a certain point then train or tram? or train for 45 minutes into Manchester Piccadilly?

I moved out of Holmes Chapel 9 years ago after living there for 38 years and the change in 9 years is staggering.
Hundreds of new homes and no new infrastructure or car parks, even the Red Lion is pay a display.
My brother in law now describes it as a commuter town with out car parking.

Edit. My wife used to commute and park at Plumley station but I guess others have now twigged and it is a busy as everywhere else.

I commute into Manchester from Sandbach every day, journey is fine, trains are clean and on time and stop at HC and Goostrey.

Sandbach has started charging for the carpark now, which means the weekly commute for Train and Parking is approx £80.

A34 can be a bit busy as there are roadworks near Bramhall but if you are prepared to go early then it's easy
I am a big fan of M60 and into city centre past Old Trafford
Compared with my old commute in SW London it's still a breeze

I live not far away - a little closer to Northwich - and find the A556 / M56 route in to Manchester easiest. I travel once a week to Belle Vue to the east of the city centre and find travelling round the M60 anti-clockwise then head down the A57 works best for me (can't comment on the A57 traffic from Belle Vue to the centre of town though).

The train from Plumley might work, but it's a bit of a rattler and goes via Altrincham and Stockport (or change to Metrolink at Alty).

Mid Cheshire line is supposed to get brand new rolling stock in 2018-2019. Last time I used it the Pacer sounded like it was at deaths door but there was plenty of free space for parking at 7 in the morning.

Thumbs up for Holmes Chapel here. I've lived here for the last 10 years. Aside from the current roadworks situation on the M6 the access to the motorway network is better than anywhere else I've lived and when needing the train the station is within a reasonable walking distance from the vast majority of the village.

Until recently I worked near Manchester airport and the drive in on the back roads makes an interesting alternative to the motorway with no real traffic hotspots and chance for a bit of fun if leaving early enough in the mornings.

Typically this is a 30 min journey but with the roads like they are at the moment (roadworks everywhere) it's taking longer so I'd expect at least an hour+ to get into the City Centre.

To put that into perspective I can leave HC at 6:30am and hop onto the M6 and be 70 miles away in Bradford (for my sins) for 7:45am..

If I had to work in Manchester centre I'd definitely leave the car at home and take the train.
