Hi all,

We’re in the process of moving factories but our forklift won’t run.. it’s electric, we use it very infrequently and the batteries won’t charge.

Can anyone recommend someone that could come and have a look?

Thanks muchly.

Have you checked the batteries? Can you see water if you flip the tops off the batteries? If not, get some distilled water, fill up level to the plates, then give it a charge. If not, try Rent A Lift. They might be able to pop over and get it started or even relocate it for you.

Ok, thanks for that. I’ll look them up.

I couldn’t see any water in the batteries so topped up but the charger is only reading 9v, I’m guessing that’s not enough for it to see the battery and start to charge.

I’m hoping the battery can be revived, the plates could have been dry for some time so may not recover.. plus I had to put that much water in I may have diluted the acid too far.

I’ll give rent a lift a call and see if they can help.

Thanks again.

If it's yours and on site, it should be checked daily/regular as part of your H+S obligations (I know ours is)! When we have our quarterly inspection, any missing paperwork/checks are seen as a big problem. More so when the ISO inspectors are in and he wants to check the sheets.

One of these might help for future use so you know of any defects and can rectify at the time -

Ps, hope you get it sorted out.
