Just been trying to clean the back seats and parcel shelf(got stuck had to be dragged out by my legs, let the 9 yearold do it in the end)anyway I noticed that sub-woofer between the back seats is 1100wattsIf I turn the stereo Up it will blow the bloody door's off.

Er no, thats the maximum power input - nothing to do with volume. The figure you're looking for is 'sensitivity'.

1100 watts is only 6dB more than 225 watts

AH I see, there is a big silver box in the boot that says Sony Xpod 500watt amplifier so that is the output then?

500W peak, or 500W RMS? Beware that if you turn it up too loud (ie beyond comfort), clipping may occur, and wreck your speaker system.

An idea of the loudness of a speaker should be found on the back. For instance, my front room speakers are quoted at about 90dB at 1 metre, for 1 watt into 8 ohms.

So, feed them a watt, and you get 90dB. 2 watts = 93dB. 4W = 96dB. 8W = 99dB. 16W = 102dB. 32W = 105dB. 64W = 108dB.

You can see how you get diminishing returns the more power you feed to them, which is why big wattage numbers aren't very impressive

great looking car and love the colour.Hope to try couple of Cerbies this summer with view to purchase later in year.I have looked at the cerbie forum a lot and they can be a bit tempremental, so was wondering are there any indies/engineers who do inspections for customers so i dont by a dog and be bitten . Must go drooling on keyboard!!

There are a few people who check them out, might cost you £250 or so.I tried to go the other way though (bought it with £2k in reserve for the service checkout etc)The way it's looking now I should get away with £1700 for what needs doing(nothing major just LOTS of minor things that add up)after that I end up with the best looking and probably most reliable cerby on the road.
Oh and I've had a chat with the previous owner who has agreed to go halves.
