Stu, thanks for a great run out. I loved the venue for brekkie, that fry-up hit the spot.
I agree with your comments; it would be a great run to do in the summer - less dark/mud/mist etc and at a time before the old gimmers go out. I hated the drive back along the A64 they really were out in force. Got about 5 miles down the road, had had enough and legged it x-country - that's more like it!
Cannot wait til next time.
Cheers

Right - back from Birmimgham now, where are we?
Brill run out again Stu, glad to see even with the mist and damp that we still managed to hit the B road target at one point
Got home and thought, better clean the car, so attached the hose to my new tap by the garage door, and proceeded to steam wash the car... which was pretty surprising considering the hose was supposed to be attached to a cold water supply! Oh those plumbers, such wags! The car enjoyed it anyway
Justin - very glad I got the clutch done well bedded in now! Yes, they greased the flywheel at the same time and yes, as usual with R&D Automotive, a superb job and extremely pleasant and efficient service, dropping me back off at work, then dropping the car off when finished. They do have some serious bits of automobilia in that place including a Konig Turbo F348!
Only moment of concern was when I lost a bank of cylinders when idling at traffic lights in scarboro on return leg - stopped for a couple of minutes to tell the guys not to worry about waiting for me, started it back up and it was as right as rain. Am I right in thinking it is something fairly simple like cleaning the ECU connections?
That run will be fantastic at 5.30 on a summers morning

Al,
The lost of a bank of cylinders mean that the thermocouple / lan sensor that screws into cataylst converter was getting hot (in your case the tubi test pipe. When the sensor gets a high temperature reading it shuts down the cylinder banks to protect the bank from damage. After you stopped for a few minutes the temperature falls and the car will start fine.
I had this problem on my 348 spider when had cats on. I bought a new ECU (the end of thermocouple/lan sensor is attached to). There is one on each side (black plastic box) next to the distrubutors behind the rear shockers.
These ECU play up because they get all the water and crap from the wheels and they have a hard silicone backing that can crack and let moisture into them. 99% of the time its not the temperature but a bad ECU for cat. They cost about £150.00 + VAT.
I got mine replaced with a new one. When you take the cats off the car and run with test pipes this problem does not occur. I have never had a problem with my banks of cylinders since I took the cats off.
You could have a faulty Oxgyen sensor. I know they go bad as well.
