bonjour fellow yorkshire people, now i must admit i've been reading this forum for a while, but haven't actually introduced myself yet.

although not a TVR owner (22yrs old... insurance is a killer!) i will own either a Cerb or Tuscan within the next five years! At the moment i'm quite happy in my little hot hatch.

I am posting to see if there's anyone in the area who fancies a bit of a weekend drive now the weather is getting nicer. I had a glorious day on Sunday with the car and GF up in the Derbyshire Dales (Bakewell, Castleton, Matlock) and the only thing missing is a bit more petrol based company. I had a little blat with a few bikers at the weekend, and although getting thoroughly mashed up on the straights, i managed to lose a couple through the corners. This got me thinking that it would be good to have a few driving buddies I could hook up with and enjoy the best of the yorkshire roads.

I like in Barnsley, but tend to take the car up into the dales at the weekend if the weather is nice. Some of my favourite haunts are around Holmfirth, A628 (Woodhead), Snake Pass, Glossop etc etc

Anyone from round these parts fancy meeting up one weekend for a blast? All cars welcome, especially TVR's so i can wind the window down and listen to the straight 6 bark and the whiff of unburnt optimax

Let me know if there are any fellow car-nuts up for something like this

Cheers

Iain (MAC)

Hi Ian

I am always up for a run but only drive a Micra so not the quickest tool in the box!

There's the Jenny Wren Inn meet tonight over in North Lincs but it may be a bit late now!

Enjoy PH!

Have a read through the Yorkshire threads. Half of them are for a run out of some sort. Coming soon is Bolton Abbey on the 24th and Buttertubs the week after. Then something else on the 8th May (can't remember what, I'm off to Silverstone for the slalom thingy).
Plenty of petrol based activities around here

Hi Mac, as a long time listener, first time caller type person, I'm in the same situation as yourself! Hope you find what you are looking for and I reckon we may meet at some get together or other. Cheers!

Why the Hell is this the first I've heard of a Bolton Abbey run? B*gger, gonna have to crash my plans for that weekend, then, and have some doughnutty-fun.

(And hopefully this year there won't be giant plumes of blue smoke out of my exhausts!)

Ah. I don't do the TVRCC calendar now I'm not "in the club". I expect to be able to scan the topic headlines on PH to glean everything I need to know about writing another weekend off to petrol vapours.

Ah, cheers. Bolton Abbey's not on the "big list", though.

Well I did the run last Sunday and I've got a Skoda. To be fair, I wasn't aware that it was a NYTVR club meet - I thought it was just a general PH meet. A good day out though and had no trouble keeping up ;-)

And thats a reason why some TVRCC members will not attend. The monthly meetings getting the same way, sadly IMO.

If I thought my presence had led to other people staying away then you would not see me for dust. Life is far too short to worry about such things.

I don't understand the notion, though. We enthusiasts are under attack from enough quarters from the PC brigade - There is very little to be gained from arguing amongst ourselves. Just my opinon.

As already stated, I didn't realise it a TVR event - I thought it was a general PH event (i.e. welcome to all comers)

You can be assured John that I understand your opinion

That not a reason to stay away though?

I am trying to ensure that when its a TVRCC event then only TVRCC members attend and am keen to get those £5 lovcal subs
When its a PH event then all welcome
I wouldnt want to ban non members from meetings - isnt that where we recruit members?

I for one love all performance cars.

Maybe as a Bememer driver I might not be welcome at our meets?
