Well - that bloody day inte sun did it -
I started to think - I need something special and not just a woman
Then Chav Girl weaved her magic again and I think she may well have won me over with the - "You only live once, dont regret not doing it at 50" routine

SO - back in discussions with owner and doing some checking with Renault

Maybe - just maybe

Anyone want a really good 328 convertible?

Rich,

Got this from the Top Gear web site ;

46 - Renault Spider

First made: 1996 Last made: 2000

A bucket of cold cow's urine in the face is possibly invigorating without actually being healthy. Likewise, a drive across country in the screenless, mid-engined Spider is to experience fly-in-the-teeth speed without actually going very fast. Heavy, over-engineered and, at five grand more than a much nimbler Lotus Elise in 1996, a tremendous waste of money. Renault doesn't do sports cars any more - here's why.

Bare in mind its written by Clarkson tho.
Also, I wonder where he found a cold cow and how did he know it was cold?

It's also worth pointing out that the one without the windscreen is the racing version - the roadgoing one had a windscreen, fixable side-screens and IIRC a clip-on hood too.

Rich... as we all know, no roof is no big deal, but nice to have if it rains... no windscreen however means you have to wear either a full face helmet or goggles... neither of which are designed to instil street cred.

You will NOT be able to drive it at more than 40 mph without head gear. Not my idea of summer cruising I'm afraid and quite hard to sell on I would hazard a guess.

Apparently, with the screen fitted its not a problem.
By the sounds of it, we might have problems keeping up on the old YTVRCC runs out

>> Edited to add.. Right I'm off to the garage with my hacksaw to get the windscreen cut down a bit
