Me and the wife will be there in our Buick, think I saw an ad up on the Leeds Cruise page for it too, so I'm expecting a fairly hefty turnout.
I saw your car parked and saw you leaving. Assuming there was only one Rivera there!A big mix of cars there, everything from standard old breadvan polo to Max Power Astra's to a Zagato Aston Vanquish Volante and plenty of everything stuff in-between.
Two MG maestro turbos too.
The field car park turned into a total bog. There was a very stuck Mercedes.
They a great set up there though, will definitely be going again. The food at the restaurant looked great too.

If it was bright red it was me! There's another riviera local-ish, but it's a dark green garage queen, I don't midn mine getting a bit dirty. That being said...
We got there about 10:30 and were already well into the gravel parking. Thought it was quite brave of people to go for the grass. I was sinking without the car!
Kinda made me miss the days when the meets were only about 50 cars there, but that wouldn't have been too sustainable for them long term.
We might have to get a little pistonheads bit set aside for one of the cars and coffee get togethers in fairer weather.

Yeah it was you then! Lovely looking car! Ah is that's what the little coned off areas where about? Yeah that would be cool. Would good to be able to identify who's who as well and put some names to faces. That being said...

Yeah the grass quickly got churned up as I saw the first few going on being a little silly and made a right mess of it. I was surprised to see the blue 720s venture into the bog! I was surprised how quiet it was when I turned up at 10, and also surprised how many people were still turning up gone 11!

Yep coned off is normally for clubs, just generally means you all have to arrive at the same time though.Yeah the grass quickly got churned up as I saw the first few going on being a little silly and made a right mess of it. Just seen that mclaren on their Instagram- they re-story [is this the right term?] A lot of stuff that tags them in.
I am posting this with some sadness. I visited The Motorist yesterday afternoon and a wonderful venue has been taken over by yobs.
I do feel so sorry for the owners who have obviously ( I do not know them) put so much into the place in terms of money, time and effort to make a great venue for car enthusiasts and are then faced with the scenes of yesterday. Lots of trashy modified cars and a sea of hoodies.
I am fairly open minded about cars and can appreciate most, and understand car enthusiasts are a broad church, but a modern Fiat 500 with a huge wing was the most" interesting" which says it all.
To be fair I cant now really recall the cars that were there, there was so much tat., I admit my leanings are toward classic cars and exotica but stuff like a nice clean MX5 mk1 will still be great to see so I am no car snob. In fact I own a MX5 Mk2.
On leaving some idiot in a BMW was doing wheelies on the narrow road out. And some noisy 4x4 junk was tearing up the field.
I was going to take a petrolhead friend of mine for a bite to eat and am so pleased I did not, as I would have been embarrassed and it takes a lot to embarrass me, although Harry managed it, I do have to say.
I can remember when the Porsche place in Malton started their Breakfast meeting which went from being a very good car show to being taken over by rubbish blasting out rap from a boot full of speakers. People of worth just stopped going and the interesting cars got replaced by modern Vauxhalls. You might has well have just walked around any Tesco car park.
It is a shame The Motorist should suffer like this and I hope the problems can be addressed .
Yep, its been going that way for a while. I do still enjoy visiting, however Weekends, and particularly any time they have a well advertised 'event' do tend to attract more of a certain type of person.
The New years meet was utter carnage - I was there nice and early with my Boy and we had a nice morning, but it descended into parking chaos as we were leaving. And people started churning up the field, which is unfortunate, but as ever you always get the odd numptie who decides tha a bootfull of throttle is going to 'help'.
The number of pop and bang maps and DSG farts on the way out has increased exponentially.
Its not hard to imagine that that:
- There will be an accident, of some sort .
- A local resident, be that the house thats nearby, the aero club, a farmer, or someone else who uses the same access road, is going to get pissed off with the traffic and complain.
The short single lane section needs either traffic controls or widening. They also need to start being more heavy handed with bad behaviour. Caffeine and Machine have a strict 'no senders' out the gate, and have quite publically shamed, and banned, various people. The motorist need to start doing this.
I'll still be going plenty as I live round the corner, but avoiding the 'big' days and weekends I think.
I do feel for the owners/staff as its a very difficult thing to manage, especially when its fundamentally a business and money is money.

Yep, and then the venue gets shut down and these 'car enthusiasts' will be back to complaining that there's nowhere for us to have car meets and whine when they are moved on from retail car parks.I honestly don't understand why people can't just drive sensibly and respect others, including local residents who so far have been reasonable over The Motorist being there.
I think it's important to remember that car enthusiasts are at all levels. Many will have cars you are not interested in, either they like looking at cars, but don't own their own interesting car, or they can't afford what would be classed as "worth looking at".
Think back to the Malton Breakfast meets which attracted a wide range of people, cars and behaviours. The Motorist is a great looking venue and is used by car enthusiasts of all types. That will never change and there will certainly be days where the car park is full of cars someone isn't interested in and they decide to go home earlier than planned.
Controlling behaviours is the most important thing for The Motorist to work on otherwise those with the "interesting cars" may be put off and stop going, just like the Malton meets. The site is under a lot of criticism from local stakeholders due to the manner of driving from the minority, hopefully that can be policed by the team on site. The same could also be said for the Squires Cafe; I stopped going when people started lining the exit hoping to see someone show off as they leave, but it just made it even more dangerous to join the road.

Mrs. M is originally from Sherburn. She is very easy-going and never moans about anything I want to do but she would be livid if I ever suggested that I might get a motorbike having witnessed death and maiming on an almost weekly basis from a very young age thanks to people running out of skill at high speed around Squires.
Just been speaking to a couple of friends who were there at the weekend both regulars, they are of the same opinion the place is now attracting the wrong crowds... when we go we have a chat use the cafe and have been for Sunday lunch several times, the type of crowd there this Sunday i suspect didn't spend a thing and would now put me off taking my wife and family there for Sunday lunch, the reving and wheel spinning is totally unnecessary and there can only be an accident in the waiting if something isn't done, plus the entrance and exit road needs be able to accommodate two way traffic. I do hope somthing can be done before this superb venue just falls to the wayside like many others have.

My sentiments exactly. I love casual meets and seeing other people's cars. I love my car too but to a lot of people I expect it's just an old silver golf and people don't look twice.Think back to the Malton Breakfast meets which attracted a wide range of people, cars and behaviours.
