Travelling into Leeds centre in a couple of weeks and need a car park that is secure and easily accessible for a pretty low car (GT3). I’ve been in The Light car park in my dd and it seemed decent at the time, but does anyone know first hand if it will be ok?

The light is known for being tight and steep in places. I wouldn’t be taking my GT3 there.

You could try rose bowl - seen a cayman GTS and others in there or trinity.

We use the Victoria/John Lewis car park. I don't take a Porsche into the centre but it seems the safest in town, not too tight & plenty of top end cars parked.

Hmm thanks chaps, food for thought. I could stuff it and take my Tesla, but I was looking forward to a blast across the Dales! I’ll check out John Lewis and the rose bowl. I’ll only be there literally half an hour too. I’d heard that The Light was the dearest in town, and when I was there previously mid week it was quiet with plenty of space, which is good!

John Lewis can be a bit busy and is a bit tight as you enter, you have to turn a corner by the ticket barrier and the kerbs can be close. Once past them the car park spaces are decent, usually some expensive cars in there

How secure do you need it? If you're only there for half an hour during the day just park on street around Park Place / Park Square. Plenty of nice cars get left around there. I'd take that over a multi-storey/shopping centre any day.

Have been parking low cars in the Light for last 10 years or so, and see all sorts of nice metal in there. Just go steady on the ramps and engage lift if you have it, and will be fine. There are wider spaces on bottom floor on the immediate front and far back, if go to far back might drop on a bay with concrete pillars on one or both sides for added peace of mind.

Taken my 911GTS into the light many times. You need to take it steady on the ramps but should be fine.

That was without nose lift btw, if you’ve got that even better.

Thanks chaps, that’s reassuring, I do have front lift - was a must have spec item!

If you are only there for half an hour, The Light can be quite time consuming to get into and down to a space, then back out of.

Good shout from a previous poster about on Street Parking on Park Place / St Paul’s Street / Park Square.

Sovereign Street also has good on street parking.

One thing to be aware of generally is that there are major works underway in City Square outside the Queens Hotel. No access at the moment for cars, so you have to come from the west or north (not the south).

Another good MSCP is the Q Park on Albion Street. Very central, good wide spaces but pricey. If you need to be at the East end of the city centre, Trafalgar Street MSCP has wide spaces and good on site security.

Or at the weekend the university has plenty of spaces outside of its multi-storey.

I’ve parked my Aston Vantage in CityPark at the Merrion Centre (Merrion Way) at the top end of town.

It’s expensive but it’s a nice car park. The initial ramp into the car park is pretty steep but the Vantage was ok with it, didn’t scrape. That may or may not be of any help!

Thanks for all the replies on this, they were all very helpful and gave me some good ideas.

In the end I parked in the light and it was absolutely fine. Took my time and used the front lift and got in and out without issue. Parked on the second level down which is well lit and recently refurbished and as it wasn’t busy plenty of options for decent spaces.
