Can everyone who is going please send me their TVR CC mem no. and confirm the number of tickets as per the last list...
I'll send out a mail to you all now.
Oops - bit late for the regional thing I guess, but I'm off to Lemons on the Wednesday night from Portsmouth.
When are you all heading south? The group I'm with are further south, so I'd be up for a convoy if you're going at a comparable time?
The deposit for the group has been paid now, so I have sent out emails to those of you that I need a deposit off. Could you please either make a payment into my account or send me a cheque (if you want to send a cheque, reply to the mail and I'll send you my address).
Cheers,
Gordon.

Right then, the inital package said Poole<->Cherbourg but that started some debate, so for those of us taking ferries I have done a bit of research:
Speed Ferries (car with two people, 50 min crossing)
====================================================
Dover -> Boulogne £39 (Seems to be fixed price)
Boulogne -> Dover £39 ((Seems to be fixed price)
Boulogne -> Le Mans, Approx 240mi
Summary: Only about £80, but only a 50 minute crossing and 240 miles to drive the other side
Chunnel (car with 2 people, 30 min crossing)
============================================
Folkestone -> Calais £72 (Midday)
Calais -> Folkestone £51 (Midday)
Calais -> Le Mans, Approx 260mi
Summary: About £120, even quicker crossing and 260 miles to drive the other side
Brittany Ferries (car with two people, 6 hours crossing, recling seats)
=======================================================================
Cherbourg -> Poole £119
Poole -> Cherbourg £119
Cherbourg -> Le Mans, Approx 180mi
Summary: About £240, 6 hour crossing (get some kip), and only 180mi to drive the other side
SeaFrance (car with two people, 90 minutes)
===========================================
Dover -> Calais (19.30)
Calais -> Dover (14.15)
Total £85
Calais -> Le Mans, Approx 260mi
Summary: About £85, 1.5hr crossing and 260 miles to drive the other side
Not all of us have passengers that can do relief driving, so it would be good if we can get some sleep on the ferry (given how far it is to the south coast from North Yorks). Having said that, a 1-2 hours wait for the ferry, and 1-1.5 hours on it and some food are probably good enough rest to get on with it - it just becomes a long day with a 3-4 hour rest in the middle. Votes, please.
Gordon.
p.s. I can't afford to make everyone's ferry booking, so I am afraid people will have to do their own, and furthermore the settlement bill for the tickets is due soon - I'll let you all know.

Initially the "package" was to go on the Tuesday (13th) in order to be able to get some kip overnight on the Poole-Cherbourg ferry, but I guess if we go for a high speed crossing then we may as well leave on the Wednesday morning and we'll probably still arrive at a similar time.
It is worth getting there reasonable early as it means you get to plug in your power at the campsite before they all go...

If it's any help, a couple of us from the North East are booked on the 10.45 Speedferries crossing on Thursday morning, returning on the Monday. We've booked into the M2 'medway' travelodge on the Wednesday evening to ensure we can enjoy the drive down through France without killing ourselves to catch the 7.00 crossing.
I crossed with Norfolk Line last year and whilst it was cheaper, it was slow compared to the 50 mins with Speedferries, and the crossing is still only £60 return.

I've booked with P&O via ferrysavers.com.
Out Tuesday 13 June Dover/Calais 14.25
Back Monday 19 June Calais/Dover 15.25
Stopover in tent or hotel on Tuesday evening. Cost about £80 I think (no passenger).
Roger, it is looking like the majority of us are now going to be doing all of the travelling in one day on Wednesday - do you want to meet us somewhere in France on the way down and then all arrive at the campsite together?
Right those of you who voted have voted for the speedferries, so I am now booking:
SpeedFerries
============
dep 14.6.2006 14:10 Dover -> Boulogne arr 14.6.2006 16:00
ret 19.6.2006 20:25 Boulogne -> Dover arr 14.6.2006 20:10
I can't afford to book for you all, so I am afraid you are going to have to book the ferries yourself. Can you all let me know when you have booked and I'll get a travelling itinerary sorted out.

Thats one hell of a trick coming back
Ah well, you see, coming back to English roads is like going back in time... Conversely, French roads seem positively futuristic....
:sarcasticmodeon:
must be a line that we cross somewhere between here and there that means there is a time difference, perhaps you could liken it to them being in a different zone to us....
:sarcasticmodeoff:
sorry, couldn't resist......
