As the witness in the Malton drive out incident
The guilty party (public knowledge) pleaded guilty after a "legal" discussion between defence prosecution and clerk
The sentence = 12 month ban, re test, £300 fine and £200 costs.
Charge was dangerous driving.

Well deserved, that should be enough to show him the errors of his ways. Thankfully they didn't call me as a witness.

would it be appropriate to ask, what was the Malton drive out incident? !

Golf driver overtakes three cars where double white 'no overtaking' lines are. A busy town heading uphill towards a blind left bend. 40mph zone doing probably 65mph when he reaches the blind bend still on the wrong side of the road. Had anyone been coming the other way there would have been no escape. Two of the three cars he overtook were driven by off duty police. Turns out that the Golf driver was also a policeman who unfortunately already had 6 points for speeding.

Good.

Now PLEASE tell me that this policeman was a rookie and not one that had been through the standard response course.

Will his job be in jeopardy because of the ban?

Thank God it wasn't a 9 iron

Joking apart it sounds like this could have ended up quite nasty and the punishment on this occasion fits the offence.

was the golf part of a club convoy or something then? I know people get a bit giddy on these drives out sometimes

The really scary thing, me being at the back of the queue, is that there WAS a car coming over the brow of the hill. I put my brakes on hoping to avoid getting hit by the 3/4/5 car pile up that I thought I was going to witness. The snag is, I bet the scrote will be out in a car before his ban has finished.
