The word arse springs to mind

I wasn't on the run so can't comment on this particular case.

Comments I would make?

He was done for DD because he did not have a decent brief.

Many PH runs border on being illegal convoys. BNG??????????

The description sounds no worse than a lot of overtaking attempts I've witnessed whilst seeing PHrs attempting to keep up with such a "legal line of vehicles"

Hypocrisy is a word that springs to mind first - not arse.

Before you slag me , have a think about some of the runs you've been on.

Understood and you are right to suggest we aren't perfect.

That said, I was there and this was an utterly stupid and dangerous manoeuvre. My guess is that he wanted to show off to the two TVR's that were among the three cars he overtook. It happens and we wouldn't have cared if he'd buzzed past us in a more appropriate manner. The fact is that he was doing approx 65mph on the wrong side of the road approaching a blind bend in a village full of pedestrians. Some daft road antics are worse than others, this was a bad one.

Like I said Bob, I wasn't there but it does seem exceptional for all the wrong reasons.

For the record, I fit into the non-perfect category.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but was curious about this bit when reading about this "incident" on a run out...

If there were two off duty police who witnessed this incident, in a column of three cars, and two were TVR's was one of you guys an off-duty Plod driving a Tiv, or were there two police in the other car?

Shock-Horror - Policemen driving TVRs in their own time? Disgraceful behaviour

Actually Mr Whippy, there are loads of 'em about - they are also often the quicker ones eh Rich?

Ah, so they were with the run out then?

Just funny that there should be two out on the run, and one in a TVR with you lot

Sorry, sounded like they were trying to blend in with the group and look for iffy behaviour, hehe.

Cheers

He was caught because he decided to overtake two off duty police in a way that warranted attention. It was then a simple case of reading the number plate and reporting the incident.

The moral of this story is that when you drive like a total loon you never know who youve just overtaken

Its a real deterrant - but only usually when youve been caught!
