Ie, they nick car, 10 mins later you phone the car and it stops wherever it is (hopefully a long way from you, who now leaves the house incase they are local and run back with knife/gun etc)...

I don't see why not.

Surely that'd require a seat to be re-upholstered though, and blood and excrement may well leak into the seat base and carpets leaving a costly repair bill before you finally get the car back?

Probably best to just set it's self on fire, then you get a nice new car, it appears to the police that their(thieves) arson attempt went wrong and they were trapped in the car, and everyone is happy (except the criminals of course, but who cares about them?)

There is certainly a device that allows a person to use their phone to text their car and shut down the engine when the car next comes to a complete stop. A friend of mine was once held up at knife-point and had his car pinched. He used his phone and the police had his car back within 20 mins...minus about £5k of audio equipment.
