I was tootling home last night along the M62 around the Tingley area at 19:15 or so last night when a white ‘68’ reg 140i with a Scottish plate come past me at speed then a couple of minutes later a black ‘68’ reg 140i with London plates came bombing past too. Looked like a training exercise or something?

I have seen that the BIB are using 140i's more and more now and to be honest I can't blame them! Nothing will be able to get past them!

Weird timing..I was walking though my village last week (not a million miles from Tingley) and a white 140i came out of a side streetand then went hooning it up the 30mph road, followed by a BMW traffic car in a similar fashion.

Aside from being an odd thing to see, the police didn't have any blues or twos on which confused me - would they be 'training' through a village like that? Never occurred to me until ^ posts.

You can tell they are unmarked as the lights are quite visible in the front grill (when they are not flashing!).

A chap I know tells me they wrap them in ladies tights to try and hide them, there’s even been a study done by one of the constabularies as to whether it is effective!

Not so much unmarked - but the 'Safer Roads Humber' van is busy on the M62 between 34 and 36 at the moment.

Thought it was a one-off when I spotted it on the bridge just after joining it eastbound at the M18 interchange. But then last week it was a few hundred yards further east, then - in rush hour this morning - on the other side near Great Heck.

A month or so ago I saw a white unmarked Golf R with its lights on going through Armley. Not seen one of those as a police car before!

Interesting one this evening on the m1.

A dark blue subaru legacy with its blues on. Have to admit I never thought I'd see them in one of these!

I live in a village not a million miles from Tingley; there was a lot of car crime/burglaries last year, so maybe heading to a job but not wanting to alert any crims.

Also RPU HQ at Carr Gate, so could be training, although as you say location seems strange (30Mon village roads).

North Yorkshires camera tax team out in force around the A65 Settle bypass yesterday, 2 or 3 of them and support vans, the camera vans were placed on the nice, wide, straight sections some with an overtaking lane. (you know the really dangerous bits)

Thankfully my spider senses were working.

Silver Octavia saloon, completely unmarked doing trade the other day on Sheffield Parkway with a RRS SVR. Such a lethal, dangerous, straight road.

They're up there all the time Will. I'm up and down there twice a day with work from Long Preston to up past the cheese factory. Nearly every other day they're in that westbound layby on the dual carriageway bit, just as you round that slight right bend. They have cameras set up at the front of the van to gun those coming the other way down the hill too.

They're finding new spots on the A59 just over the Lancs border as well. Had one picked in the grass in the dip just before the abbatoir near Sawley heading westbound from Gisburn. Had a few close calls along there so stick to 50 now in the truck as it's not worth the aggro.
