Hello Martyn, good to see you were OK - we got a little worried when you went missing, glad it was something that didn't stop you getting home OK.

Snorky

PS I was well impressed as a relatively new TIV owner at how easily the ol Chim ( 4.0 ) kept up with those Razzers...

Update: I've gone for a set of adjustable rear AVO's from Joospeed. HHC have agreed to fit them FOC in lieu of what Warranty Holdings will give them to replace just one TVR damper.

Sounds okay to me and once I'm back earning beer tokens again I'll get the fronts upgraded too.
Should have the car back on Wednesday. Until then, it's pedal-power for Chumley...

Thanks again for the advice folks.

Just got back into the office after dropping the car off at HHC. Saw your car Chumley, sans wheels and shockers!

After the hassle yesterday breaking down, and 3 hour round trip this pm to get the car into Harrogate, I am getting alittle tired of the chim unfortunately. Especially after having to get a new rad and alarm within two months of ownership...big bill. Although some of the work to be done on the car this time will be under warranty the bill will prob be quite severe I reckon. Was not sad to see the back of the car tonight as I walked away...hopefully distance and time apart will make my heart grow fonder!

Hope all the other wounded Yorkshire tivsters are on the mend.

Best Regards

MOD.

Reserve your judgement until it's all A1 again. Go for a blatt, and then tell your grin it's wrong.

Every relationship goes through a bad patch. Some things are worth working at!

What was that famous saying?

24 hours is a long time in TVR ownership

Never mind, summer's around the corner.....

Sounds like a result Steve.

The offer stands if you fancy tackling the fronts on a weekend sometime when the beer tokens are coming in. Just give me some notice so you know I'm in the country.

Martyn
Don't go saying they things, I saw your eyes light up in the rarri dealers. The Enzo is NOT for sale!!!!

didn't realise there was so much bad luck all round, still: NIL DESPERANDUM, as they say!!!!
We have had a double whammy last week - flying wheeltrim on the M62 took a chunk outta the MINI bonnet during the week, then the kerb thing with the chim. Whaddyado ? After that lot I am positively LOOKING FORWARD to FRi 13th!!!! So chins up everyone - just keep remembering (chant it in your sleep) - " I drive a TVR!!! "

It will. I went through the same feelings when mine went wrong. I was certain that I would sell it as soon as it came back from the garage, well needless to say, I didn't. One drive in the flippin thing and I was hooked again.

Keep yer chin up.

Morning All

Thanks for the kind words.......I found ample solace in the capable arms of Messers. Stella & Artois last night after the cold run (with no heaters) to the dealer.

Regards swapping - was thinking of changing the chim at the end of the year or poss this time next year as the used prices seem to be lowest at present. There was no question it would be another TVR, but the expense and inconvenience thus far with the 500, a great car though it is (especially with the engine mods) has left an ever bittering taste in my mouth. If it continues to give bother over the summer it does'nt fill me with confidence to take it over to Europe for Eurohoon. If the bills keep mounting in the future, the chim will unfortunately have to go for something German, probably at the expense of some of the character and soul that that TVR has, but historically should give less trouble and expensive unscheduled repairs.

Hopefully this won't happen, and I hope it does'nt!!

and you think Porsche's don't have unscheduled repairs, well built though they are? And some parts may be a lot more expensive than TVRs. I would think both Porsche and TVR are pretty similar in running costs, just one's quieter than the other

Hey anyone want a laaaaarf at my expense?

The Yorkshire curse continues..........
My BMW has also been taken away to the garage with a clutch/gearbox problem!

Yours

Jo The Carless One!!!!

Perhaps I should get an automatic or learn to drive properly!

This isn't some pi55 take about German cars, it is in the garage! I'm just laughing at the irony of it all!

Jeez - there seems to be a mountain of evidence building up to suggest that we all stay indoors on Friday 13th. And I'm supposed to be driving up to Newcastle! May have to go on Thursday instead...

Jo, two is unlucky. Three would suggest a pattern forming re cause and effect.... Maybe you should contact Blackpool & see if they can fit this new fangled sequential box to your Tuscan (or Bimmer!?) as part of the development work? If you don't manage to break it then it should be bomb-proof....!

Apologies for the sarcasm. Feeling a bit nippy this morning as I've just found out that the job I apparently had lined-up has fallen through. So Andy, cheers for the offer, don't suppose you can actually make the dampers yourself too can you to save a few more quid....?!!

MOD, hope you stick with it fella. I personally see Tiv ownership as a form of therapy or conditioning. My reckoning is that if you can cope with it then the usual ups and downs of work/domestic life will be water off a ducks back. (or more like you'll be far too worried about your next car bill to be worried about anything else)...

In fairness the TVR has (so far) been more reliable the Bimmer. Only just 2 years old, so far it has had 2 sets of ignition coils, an new ECU for the engine management system, the boot lock stopped working and now the clutch needs replacing. Oh and the indicators NEVER worked!

Oh what a nightmare for you. Hope something turns up soon.

Just a thought, I'm working from home for the rest of this week, if you need a lift up to HHC feel free to give me a shout. The BMW should be back tonight or at the latest tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer Jo. My old fella had offered depending on what time he's working on Wed. I'll have a quick word with him but may take you up on the offer, if you can spare the time (I used to work from home and all my mates just thought I sat on my ar5e all day - as if...!)

Would love a session on Fri 13th but I'm up in Newcastle. We'll certainly have to meet up for a few in Pool though whilst I'm living here. Maybe some a few mid-week sherberts some time next week?
