The Yorkshire curse continues..........
My BMW has also been taken away to the garage with a clutch/gearbox problem!

Yours

Jo The Carless One!!!!

Perhaps I should get an automatic or learn to drive properly!

This isn't some pi55 take about German cars, it is in the garage! I'm just laughing at the irony of it all!

I do have some german engineering parked on the drive - The BM is back already!!!! Repaired, road tested and valeted, all done in half a day. Thankfully it wasn't my dodgy driving causing problems! Apparently there was a known fault and a recall has been issued. Phew, thought I'd started driving like a girl!

Hmmm, if only the same could be said for the Tuscan. The clutch needs replacing along with 2 tyres, indicator relay and speedo sensor. The dealer has suggested I have a large drink before he calls me with the estimate. GULP.

So c'mon then lets have your estimate of how much my bill will be, whoever gets the nearest guess gets breakfast cooked for them at Pistonfest.

Who ever is furthest away gets to do the washing-up!

Bummer Jo, clutch alone is more than a grand. I think you are looking at £2000 or more.

Will they trade on the new Amp? .

You've already lost this bet once Jo Are you going to cook for more then, mind you, you are already cooking our breakfast so a couple more won't hurt

I know, one more mouth to feed won't matter, but I could get some help with the dishes.

At this rate they'll have to take payment in 'kind' if you know what I mean!

Jo that's really bad news. I presume from the tone of your post that the warranty is long expired?

The warranty is still valid but the clutch will fall into the category of 'wear and tear'. Wish I'd kept on driving it until it was broken instead of taking it when it was part worn!

I'm now wondering what on earth I bought a warranty for.

Trust me, they'd be platinum with diamonds making up the TVR logo!

Spoke to HHC this pm , turns out the monsoon in the cabin was a burst heater hose, so not much cost to fix........hooray

Also, my other fears were subsided also:

1) Warped disc - turns out to be a rust burr clicking on the pad

2) Faulty starter - possible upgrade to exciter wire required

3) Rattly cam - they all sound like that sir.

Phew

Just to be on the safe side I have had the throttle cable changed as well as the 100A fuse. Have also ordered a spare throttle cable, fan belt, and two 100 A fuses to keep in the boot, plus my trusty paper clip and tape!

Good to hear one of the Yorks TVRs is back up and running.. Now about the Tuscan..

Oh, and my slight missfire. And odd electrics, (now compounded by hitting a flooded road in Cornwall last weekend so I now have both fog lights with water swishing around in them..)

Incidentally, anyone know if a dark blue/green Chimera in Wetherby area? I'd stopped to make a phone call on my way home from work last night, they went past did a U turn and offered to help if I was stuck. I'd thought it was someone I knew offering as the lid was on and they would naturally have presumed I'd got a problem.. boot was full of laptop, and work papers etc

Good news MOD.

Got mine back yesterday. HHC did a top job of fitting the dampers within a couple of hours of receiving them. Much appreciated given that they seemed to be very busy.

The bad news is that they spotted that 4 new CV boots were required. I think they said 4 hrs labour plus parts & not covered by warranty. Should bump up the price of my imminent service. Bit of an ar5e as I thought that the 12 months warranty would pretty much safeguard me against non accident/service costs for a year (ie so I could budget for my sabbatical). So, another one here wondering what use the warranty is. Looks like replacing the front dampers will have to wait another couple of months. Memo to self: Get new job quick!

Anyway, off up to Newcastle now for a weekend of serious liver abuse. Have a good one all. Take things easy tomorrow....

Aaah, good news all round, hope it is my turn tomorrow.

Depending on the repair bill dictates if I can afford a ski holiday or not. Fingers crossed all.
