It's now confirmed for a week on saturday. Which is a bit of a pain cos I can't go!

We do however have Big Northern Gathering on this weekend which is being held in tyhe grounds of a stately home near Helmsley, north of York.

There are a few threads about it in the events section.

I'm currently looking for a new mistress.

I'm looking for something small and fun and fast (maybe a Starlet gt turbo or 106 rallye) so i can utilise these roads!

Nearest I’ve been to either of those was when I used to navigate for a mate of mine in 1600cc 206 (a good few years back). Great car that was, I think the 106 rallye was an attempt to get back to those days when the Pug ruled.

Good hunting, let us know when you get sorted.

Cheers,

Simon.

Sunday 5th Sept

Already got a number of cars coming already, but all welcome.

Will be having a "thrash at the crack of ducks fart a.m." from Humber bridge north bank for about 90 mile round trip up into the wolds and back (you need to be full at the start).

Interested?

OH

Especially as by then I should have my new toy

Which reminds me, bit of an arty pic you have there on your profile Mr Branton Into a bit of glamour photography on the side are we?

Seriously, I am free, I think, that Sunday, AND, if it is dawn and we are back fairly early, AND as I do plan to pick the car up the day before, hopefully Vicki will be in an understanding mood

Just a minor point - could you think of a slightly different name for it please, as we already have the Dawn Raid series organised by Nonny. How about Wolds Raid, or the "up at the crack of dawn run 1" lovely girl she was too

Hope you don't think I'm being arsey, not intended, but Nonny does put a lot of work into Dawn Raid and they are serious bits of motoring - tulip maps the works, 4 hours full on concentration - work that gearbox!

al

ps: the roads will be reasonably decent won't they? as the new one has even less ground clearance than the Griff - if they are likely to be a little rough in places, I'll bring the Griff.

Name changed, no arse taken :-0

Roads will be nice & smooth, not too narrow, fairly flowing & open & hopefully dry.

Ta Chumley!

Stu - Have you thought of setting up a separate thread for the Duck's Fart Run? (I'd still keep it in Yorks forum though as opposed to main events).

A lot of people will have seen this East Yorks PH post for several weeks now and might not bother checking updates on it.

I am looking forward to it... except if it's p1ssing down! I'm in this for the open top driving, if I can't have the roof down, I'm afraid I tend to lose interest a bit. Having said that, I have been known on more than one occasion to have the roof off whilst all around me have wipers on

tell you else may be up for this, Willy Worm and his son Chris. They have a Chimaera and an Elise and live near Drax. I'll drop them a line.

Will post new thread as suggested Al.

Like the new wheels BTW, sure gonna get you noticed in Goole :-O

The more the merrier for me.

The issue with open top cars for me is that the drag and noise build up massively to the point where everything gets sucked up and out of the cockpit, including the wife's favourite baseball hat on French autoroutes etc., which gets you in trouble.

Easier to spot the chopper coppers though.

Don't know about the new one yet, but in the Griff never seemed to have any trouble up to *55, though I think I slowed down because the baseball cap was in danger of letting go - normal motorway speeds, never had a problem, and the 348 is reputed to be fairly good for noise levels with the roof down.

I 've done upwards of 80 in my MX5 with the roof off with no problems of things flying away.
