Give Andy above a try.

He is just over the river from the Morrisons and Bolton? Abbey so in Leeds but pretty near the edge of Bradford.

I've been looking for a garage I can trust and rely on recently for our two cars. I gave German Auto Centre (BMW Care, Audi Care, Merc Care etc) a try and they were very good in doing the MOT and advising me what was wrong with my car (airbag light and CEL light on). However, I am suspicious about their business policy as they (correctly) said the CEL was due to a faulty fuel temp sensor and they are £72+VAT from main dealers only, and then there would be fitting, meaning a potential +£100 bill. I called the main dealer and got the part for £15.49+VAT and fitted it myself in 5 minutes, so where did £72+ come from ? Either an honest mistake, or a bit of profiteering. I'll see what they say when I next visit, and base my future decisions about them on their answers and reaction.

Can you elaborate please? Are you suggesting that I should not trust the recommendation given from BlueMR2?

Perhaps the grammatical errors prompted such a response?

Lets just say I was an unhappy customer.

Understood. Getting feedback from unhappy customers like yourself is very useful.

I will try elsewhere.

I'm also looking for a decent indie in this area after getting some shoddy, amateurish treatment from B&M care - I know others swear by them but I had a right run around for 2 and a half hours for a ten minute job; part them just arseing around and then part them not knowing what they were doing.

Try either of these chaps. In my experience, you will not experience the poor service that a certain Pudsey based indie inflicts on some customers.

Impact Motorcare Leeds 0113 2843034 LS21 1LH www.impactmotorcare.co.uk Don't market themselves as BMW specialist but know BMW's very well and no bullst approach.

LEEFORD MOTOR COMPANY Leeds 0113 2457197 LS2 7PS INDEPENDENT BMW SERvICING LEEDS Independent BMW and MINI Servicing in Leeds - EX BMW chaps

If you still need one, and Halifax is not too far away, probably the best garage I have ever used:

West View Garage
Boothtown
Halifax
Tel;01422 365561
Owner; Mark Gully

no-nonsence Ex-BMW senior mechanic or something. really knows his stuff and will not try to rip you off.
Was quite happy with me doing some work on my car and him finishing it off, helping me with diagnostics, and sourcing akwar parts etc.

I hope Leeford Motor Company are up to the job. Just booked my car in later this month.

I have already had a new water pump plus a sensor fitted for the best part of £400. The car still has a coolant leak though. Hope there is not too much more work involved as Leeford are charging £52 P/H.

B & W Care have serviced mine for the last 4 years; fantastic customer service and fair pricing and exclusively BMW. Richard & Vicky run it, both very helpful. Also have loan cars if you need to leave yours, although you will look like an estate agent for the day.

Off Richardshaw Road in Pudsey/Stanningley - 0113 256 6999.
Yup, Richard and Co at B&W care look after my E92 M3 and my JCW Mini.

Just an update - I ended up using Impact-Motorcare in the end and they fixed my BMW. Great chaps and very knowledgeable, one of the best garages I have ever used. Might use them for the rest of the fleet.

Great recommendation smile

Cheers.

I wasnt convinced with B&M care even though I worked 2 mins away, they didnt know what they were doing with my car so it goes to Metcalf Motorsport (now autos) in sherburn in elmet. Paul Metcalf knows BMWs inside out and has built and raced E30 M3s, compacts, E36s and E46s so knows them like the back of his hand. I have been going there for 8 years since Ive owned my M3 and never had an issue plus my inspection 2 for my M3 cames to a brilliant price of £450.

+1. B&M were ok but found them to be very expensive. They also looked a little lost whilst trying to simply replace a windscreen washer bottle, but they did sort the problem out.

Just been back to B&M/German Auto Care/VW Care/Audi Care and all their other names.

My Octavia failed its MOT on both front outer CV boots, an LED mirror side repeater, and airbag wiring loom (test cancelled with no fee due to technical issues at the garage). They wanted near £600, and that didn't include the MOT or retest to do the work. The main dealer is doing the MOT, boots and indicator for under £200, and will fit me in before the new year to avoid the airbag light being a test fail, all for under £200. The airbag loom will be supplied and fitted for under £100 later. Those sexy new premises are being paid for by someone, but it won't be me !

Went to B&M with an open wallet about a crazy RS4 Engine based project, and they didnt want to know (They do advertise they work on Audi's too, I'm not retarded!).

Explained what I whas trying to achieve to the guy on the desk and he couldnt have cared less, which is fine if you just want the basic service on your car. I however like to know the people who look after my car actually give a toss about them. It also seemed a bit suss, there was a relatively small car park for such a large buiding, and most of the building was offices, made me wonder if their concentration isnt just the cars, which again would be reflected in the service. Overall, despite not asking for a 'run of the mill' service, they just didnt seem interested, and when the front facing person of the company cant be arsed, whose to say the rest will.

Ive also had a friend use Leefords, behind Maplin I beleive. Whilst offering a better price, and also experience of working with racing cars, they missed a failed Damper on my mates Vectra. I'd told him it was his damper, due to the type of knocking, but they insisted brakes? Changed Brakes, still had the problem. Eventually after having most of the arse of the car off, decided it was the shock, but still charged him for brakes etc. I also went to have my wheels properly aligned, as they were the only garage about back then with the 4 wheel laser kit. Tried to squeeze 3 new tyres out of me, didnt realise I knew the rules, and was also an engineer who could measure them a lot mroe acurately than they could! Overall, again, not confidence inspiring.

Mad4mini all day fella! Absolutely Faultless every time. Ive twice taken the wifes mini in for what I thought would be a service, for them to simply tell me it was due an MOT, or on one occasion needed front pads (£80-ish fitted?). They collect/Pickup/ and will even drop you at work if its not far away. Always do what they say they will, give the car a good clean inside and out, and make everything as simple as possible. I dont trust many people, especially Garages and Tradesmen, but I would happily park my car at theres and trust them to fix anything without robbing me. Again, the only problem is no courtesy car, but as they are so helpfull with collection or a lift to work, doesnt matter that much! As said above, they are BMW Trained Mechanics, they work on race cars, and are a freindly bunch to deal with, spending time to anser any questions about your car. Im actually gutted that I cant take my Golf to them.....

I have used Impact Motorcare in Pool -in-Wharfedale as mention a few posts above in this thread. They were excellent when servicing/repairing my old 7 series and also looked after my previous 1 series. I have recommended them to friends (1 with a VW Phaeton & Fiat Panda, 1 with a Z3M and 1 with a VW Passat) and all have been very happy with the service they have received.
