** Alloy Wheel Refurb Group Buy!! Wheel Specialist EK **
Discussion
Ladies & Gentlemen,
Several threads exist about alloy wheel refurbs, so I got to thinking... What if some of us could club together in a GB to save a few quid on alloy wheel refurbs?
Anyway, I now have a contact at the East Kilbride office of 'the wheel specialist' (following a glowing review from an Edinburgh-based PH'er...) and they have very kindly agreed to offer us a group buy for £200/car (saving £64), if we can find ten people to take up this offer.
Ideally, I'd like another nine of you to come forward (I'm in ) and keep it with the Scotland PH chapter, but we could offer it to reliable friends, Scottish Elises, etc.. Heck, let's make a day of it and I'll even bring some cakes, pies & scotch eggs for your delectation too!
Details/Conditions:-
C'mon you lot - any takers?

- A 'new tyre' service is availble if interested/required.
- All 'standard finishes' are offered for wheels up to and including 19”.
- Standard finishes include; Black Chrome, Charcoal/Anthracite, Flash Chrome, Gloss or Matt Black, Gloss White, Hi-Power Silver, Power Silver, Smoked 307, Smoked Chrome, TWS Chrome, Gold, Silver and TWS Sport 1, 2 or 3 (see link below).
- Your final choice of finish can be chosen 'on the day'.
- 20”+ wheels can be included, but will cost extra (I can email to request price).
- Additional charges will be incurred for anything over and above a 'standard' finish, i.e. polished rim, coloured rim, pinstriping, etc (I can email to request price).

I've also been contacting a lot of wheel refurbishment companies recently trying to get quotes for my 17" gold subaru wheels.
Do you know if all of the colours listed are powdercoated or are some wet sprayed? Powdercoating is tougher finish than wet spraying.
(Personally I've had a few sets of wheels painted before, the looked great until around a year later when the edges were scuffed with tyres being removed)
Some of the companies I've contacted would only wet paint gold wheels as they couldn't get a good colour match with gold powdercoat.
(Powdertec in Kingston bridge industrial estate were one and they quoted £350! )
£200 is a good price, however I've been able to obtain the same price for just one set of wheels from custom coatings in Bellshill.
I'll probably be giving them a bash soon and will post pictures up within the next few weeks for those that are interested.
Their website, though not the greatest, is here: http://www.customcoatingsuk.com/

Hi,
I recently got my car wheels done at The Wheel Specialist in Edinburgh and if the East Kilbride branch is anything like the one in Edinburgh then I'm sure you will all be over the moon with the results like I am. Don't get me wrong I've never had wheels refurbished before so can't really compare but I really can't find fault in them.
Maybe someone should contact the Edinburgh branch and see if they will do something similar for people out this way. Guys name was Colin. Wish an offer like this was set up last week!
And for the pesron looking for Gold, the branch in Edinburgh had gold wheels on display so maybe give them a phone.
Craig.

Paid the full 264 quid.
To be fair, I didn't mind; full wheel & bare metal powdercoat and the finish and service was great. Plus the likelihood of having enough cash during the next few months to do it is unlikely, so it was kinda 'now or never'.
I reckon if you were cheeky enough to named-drop this thread to the girl I spoke to, a wee discount might not be out of the question...
I'll PM you pics & the contact details.
