The word is that for the first week or so there will be around 5 traffic cars constantly patrolling it. Now obviously no one on here would think of using it to do any sort of engine testing as we are all very responsible. But that may be worth noting.... wink

I would never do anything like that...but thanks for the heads up!

May I not un-quote myself for saying the Haudigan will be a nightmare - normal wait for half a mile, today was a wait of 3 cars to get onto the roundabout.

Lots of traffic going up onto the AWPR at the airport.

Market / Guild street still un-changed, but this is very early hours!

Shaved about 6 minutes off my commute, Inverurie to Kingswells.

i usually hang a right at blackburn and use the clinterty back road.

other than a dizzy bint in an A1 pootling in the wrong lane and making a massive arse of the Craibstone roundabout, it was painless.

will try again tonight going the other way for a comparison.

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. 15m from Craibstone to Charleston. Saved me 20m and that was with the fked traffic on Wellington Rd (collapsed manhole)

Now if they could finish the Inverurie bypass that’ll save me another 10m...

This is probably 20 years too late but we’ll take it for granted for ever more.

I think I read that initially you won’t be able to join AWPR northbound from Kingswells, so good if you’re able to confirm.

Just took a spin from Craibstone to Stonehaven to Charleston then back to Craibstone. 34 minutes without doing anything naughty. Phenomenal! And Dyce doesn't seem to have broken so far.

Fuzz are all over it as stated by Paul.

Agree with all the sentiments. This is going to remove such a huge amount of frustration from my commute.

Was as busy as ever once onto the road past the Crem into town, but it's Wednesday and this was at School time.

Live and work in town but the traffic in the city seemed a lot lighter today around the usual rat-runs. Long may that continue.

Is it not the next junction north of the main Kingswells one that can't be joined northbound? Something to do with the temporary setup to get traffic off of there because it's still closed a bit further on at the Don bridge?

Yes, I think you're right. The Express describes the junctions, and there are two for Kingswells.
One thing I noticed this morning was that coming on the old back 'woggle' road from Lynne of Skene to Tyerbagger, I was the only vehicle.. nice.

That'll be because it's a terrible road that nobody in their right mind would use if they can avoid it smile

I rather enjoy the 3 miles of sharp bends and straights, and the schuss through the woods! Happy to have it to myself...

First taste late this morning (as a pax) after demobilising from offshore.

Joined at Kingswells and was turning ontyo the A90 at Stonehaven 10 minutes later which was brilliant!

Plenty Polis to be seen...

It’s really poorly sighted though. If you could see what was coming the other way, I agree it’d be good fun.

I guess it’s fine in the dark though, as you’ll see the lights.

Great to see the road finally open. So many colleagues with a smile on their face this morning after shaving 20\30 mins off their commute.

However, coming from town out to Westhill was awful this evening at around 5pm, much worse than normal. It was queued back from the Lang Stracht to the bypass roundabout. Guess until this morning you never had to stop there, now lots of traffic coming from Westhill heading to Stonehaven interrupting the flow.

Edited - Evening Express have caught onto this - https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/lat...

I can't see this changing. Guess there will always be winners and losers. Thankfully it's not my normal commute, in fact the bypass will have little impact on daily life.

Agreed, need to be careful...

Seems that the AWPR itself is the best invention since sliced bread... however the effect on link roads on tonight’s evidence is not so good. Westhill road was apparently very busy, and the roads round Dyce rammed when I left. Hopefully it will settle down when the last bit is filled in, and hopefully some tweaking on traffic light sequencing which is a mess. Oh and when people realise the Craibstone roundabout marking and lanes have been relaid!

Yeah my route home is out towards Westhill and it cost me the best part of 10 mins in the queue. Normally it’s 40mph from the Prime 4 junction to the big roundabout, but it was solid traffic tonight.

There are no traffic lights to tweak to ease that situation. Feck.

Good to see this is finally open and the initial experiences have been positive biggrin

I'll be giving the Craibstone - Stonehaven bit a testing a week tomorrow once I get back onshore, looking forward to missing out Aberdeen pretty much altogether on the heliport runs thumbup

My usual drive home is 70-80 minutes. Occasionally an hour, occasionally 90 mins. Record is about 55m. 45m tonight. I’m delighted smile

The signalling will no doubt be tweaked and the opening of the final section should help Dyce. I wonder if the full opening of the northern Kingswell junction will help the A944 issues. I am certainly sure it will be being looked at.

After my warning yesterday about cops I've had reports of people being pulled over on it already. It really isn't the place to speed right now guys.
