For me, it's great. I work in Dyce again now, commute from Seafield area is about 25 mins each way, that's going out past Hazelhead, joining AWPR either at Kingswells or the A944 roundabout and staying on all the way round to Parkhill junction. About ten years ago I worked beside the airport, no matter which route I took it was at least 45 mins each way if I dodged rush hour, an hour or so if I got the worst of the traffic or there was a sniff of roadworks anywhere near the route.

I appreciate I'd be about the same time but half the distance to just take Anderson Drive/Bucksburn/through Dyce but I just don't like that route at peak times, everyone's jostling about, cutting in/out and it's just not as pleasant as whizzing round a quiet dual carriageway making good progress. And I paid £746million for the road so I'm damn well going to get my money's worth out of it smile

I think the traffic in Aberdeen could be improved even more if they actually had some sort of sensors at the traffic lights to regulate them properly. Don’t know how many times I’ve been sat at lights and a full cycle goes through with no traffic at the other side of the junction.

Yep, especially the four way lights, such as the airport, where each entry has a go, separately. Complete overkill, but seems the current trend along with double stacked lights.

Lights at junctions that involve a section of trunk road (A96, A90) are controlled by Transport Scotland (currently contracted to BEAR I believe). Lights within the city are controlled by the ITS section of the council.

Think I jinxed myself. Heading home last night and left the AWPR at the A944 roundabout heading south. Normally the traffic in the right lane there is queued right back up to the main carriageway and I just whiz down the left lane to head into town past Prime Four etc. but last night it was the left lane that was stacked up almost up to the main road. No idea why that was, left about my usual sort of time...

Could have been the footy... Miles from Pittodrie but the A944 is always busy on game days.

Well the odd thing was that the 944 itself was fine... Progressed fairly quickly past Prime Four, didn't have to queue long at all coming in to Hazelhead, it all seemed pretty light there, traffic heading East from Westhill direction was no worse than normal. Maybe just some random, one-off thing.

I was in the queue yesterday. More than likely it is the roadworks at the North side of Kingswells causing it (until the 13th of dec)

Instead of taking the backroad to Kingswells me (and others) now need to go on the AWPR then head back to town that way.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Surprised that there was no queue in the right lane though. If you see a silver XKR in the queue this evening then give us a wave smile

I didn't even make the AWPR last night due to the accident at Tyrebagger - ended up pretending I was a rally driver taking the backroad past Craibstone golf course.

Don't have a smiley on this car, but if you see a bright blue RS that looks and sounds like it should be doing handbrake turns in the Mcd's carpark, but for some reason is blasting out Radio 4 then that's me smile

same took to the C97C CLinterty backroad, wondered why there was nothing coming down tyrebagger at Blackburn.

was a clear-ish run back into the Garioch

Without wanting to turn this into another "spotted" thread, there's a car matching that description that parks at my work, I'll pop you a PM...

Been travelling to Dyce now for about six months with work, once every two weeks.

Have managed Glasgow City Centre Midday to Dyce in 2 hours 23 minutes.

The new road is fantastic for those doing a route similar.

Traffic lights to be installed on A944 junction

https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/tra...

...although the article goes on to say it’ll be considered by a committee in March, which is far from the same thing, but a step in the right direction!

The council always wanted them. Transport Scotland didn't. They should have been there from day 1.

Not looking forward to them trying to get them set up.

My heart sinks every time I see a Siemens Van with a guy in a high viz fannying about in the roadside cabinet.
