Trackday at East Fortune

If anyone's interested, the Alfa Romeo Owner's Club Scottish Section will be hosting a trackday at East Fortune circuit on August 21st. (It is some 15 minutes south of Edinburgh.)
The good news is the event is on and the track has had a couple of repairs this year so the surface is now generally very smooth (at least in some straights and the corners). The circuit is longer and faster than Knockhill but flatter, so it is less technical and will be good for novices wishing to gain some experience on a quieter closed event. The fun will be run in 20 minute sessions overseen by Javelin trackday organisers, but we will be able to run sessions purely for beginners and, if necessary, exotica (as has happened in the past).
The circuit is very wide in places and has huge run off areas so lots of thrills and no spills are expected. Places are limited and we expect to be able to take another 15 or so. Track action will begin at 10am and continue until 4pm. The nearby Museum of Flight has a cafe for hungry people and may even be used as a break from the action to see concorde amongst other attractions.
The bad news is that the fee has to be £100 and a £40 deposit will be required. Its not bad considering the time available and the circuit the event will be run on- not some make do closed road.
If anyone is interested, I can answer any questions, but booking is undertaken by Colin Beveridge who may be contacted on 01738 560085.
Hope we can still interest more people as this will be the first time this type of event will be run at East Fortune. I think that having a trackday venue choice in Scotland will be a good thing, and a little competition for Knockhill will do no harm. For that reason alone, the day is worth supporting I think.

PS- unfortunately Melville Motor Club who own the circuit do not allow road legal slick type tyres eg Yokohama Parada. Any tyre just meeting the 17% (I think) groove ratio will not be allowed.

I'd thoroughly support a real alternative to Knockhill, even just for some variety . . . how are the sessions being organised . . . how much of those 6 hours can one be on track ?
eg. if it's one every 3 then 100quid is very expensive for 2 hours track time . . . even 4 hours for 100quid is almost twice what I payed for a session at Knockhill just last weekend . . .
I know a load of people who were initially interested in this (saw it on javelins website) but would not pay 100 quid for minimal sessioned access to a track . . .

Last I heard, track time is 10am to 4pm but may be longer- I'll keep you posted.
It will be run in sessions- 3 as near to 20 minute sessions every hour. It would be possible to have 3 hours of track time on the strength of that. Actually, if a car was to leave the session early, and as we have much less than the target 42 cars, then I think it would be possible to have 15 minutes every 20 min session! That IS definitely more than most cars would happily survive!
Last I heard, we may expect things from Fiat Cinqs, to lots of Alfas, possibly a Morgan, and a Noble M12. Other cars likely to litter the track will be an AX GT500 and a Chim 450... Looks like we'll get a good selection!
Remember it still looks like this event will be undersubscribed! Only about 23 so far (deposits recieved) although others are interested.
If anyone does give Colin a phone on 01738 560085 to book, it would be good to let him know if you are PHers.
One last thing, as time is drawing close, rather than a £40 deposit and a £60 balance, any other interested people should just send the whole £100 when booking.
