Skyfall Filming Locations in Scotland
Discussion
Glen Etive Road is a poor road for driving pleasure but there is some nice scenery and there some rare birds of prey floating about so plenty people with cameras and phones who like the peace and quiet and know the police phone number....
EVO did a guide to the best route through this area but as you just stay on the A82 its hardly a technical article. They also missed the detour around Kinlochleven which is a great loop of quiet tarmac often overlooked as the ballachulish bridge is the bypass and the quickest route North.
Its so wet, dark and miserable id wait until May when it might have cleared up!
AFAIK Skyfall was a wild west set in Kent or something like that with the scenery put in with CGI. However the other bits were in Glen Etive and Ocatane this month has an article on the locations.
Skyfall Lodge was almost located at Glenfinnan on the road to Mallaig from Fort William up near the Harry Potter Bridge. I was told this by the Estate Manager in November but a last dash change of plan saw it moved South.

Plus it's a dead end, so on the return leg you have to drive past the people you upset on the way down the road!

I found the rock that JD is standing beside (big clump of green moss), passing there next week so might recreate the shot!

I was down in the Glencoe area at the weekend so made a little detour down the Glen Etive road, i've been desperate to go to there since seeing the discussions about it on here!
so I managed to get this little shot on Saturday!
not too bad for jumping out of the car into the pouring rain, setting up the tripod, then really quickly trying to get it looking at least half right, then setting the timer and running over and standing looking dramatically down the glen, all in about 30 seconds! haha! my DSLR was soaked afterwards! (it's still working though!)

could you describe the driving route to this point for me ? , I try planning from Google maps which is : from Stirling castle A84 pass Callander to A85 through Crianrarich then A82 to Glencoe then do we turn left somewhere to reach the viewpoint that Craig and you shot . How can we notice when will we turn left? and how far to reach that shot point ?
thank you.
its a cracking route for pictures...
