It seems the former transport minister would like to see all speed limits in Scotland reduced by 10mph
https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/politics...

I didn't realise though that Father Jack Hackett had become transport minster after the the demise of Father Ted, I suppose he had to get another job. wink

This is not an SNP policy! It's a story in the P&J so is guaranteed to be sensationalist rubbish.

Not SNP policy, but a proposal from a SNP MSP, how many other idiot ideas will they come up with just to be different from the rest of UK ?

Over stating things a wee bit BUT if pedestrians are being hit on roads by cars WHY are they on road surely that is not the cars fault?

Where is all the pedestrians take care when crossing road publicity?

Cars doing 30mph legally on road do not seek pedestrians out to knock down

This x100. When I was young, I was taught the green cross code and that roads were dangerous to cross. This has served me well in life, as I am still alive.

Nowadays the attitude seems to be to just slow the traffic down, not keep pedestrians off the road. No mention of green cross code anymore

I rather hope this goes nowhere. It would hurt my commute a bit. I'm unconvinced that being hit at 50mph as you walk up an unlit single carriageway in dark clothing is significantly better than being hit at 60mph. It just sounds like the sort of thing thick people suggest as a cure to a perceived if not actual problem they're a long way from understanding.

To be fair, it's not a SNP policy. Just the thoughts of a lunatic being aired.

E.g, 80% of Edinburgh is being reduced to 20mph.

You're not alone and I'm sure this would be forced through without proper consultation if given half the chance. They gave us the referendum though so that means we must trust/forgive them for all the other nonsense they come up with or so some might say.

They are going to be UK wide come May 8th so nowhere to run. Careful what you wish for (i.e. no vote).

Sturgeon even has a positive approval rating in England! She is VERY good at what she does.

Regardless of your political leanings, who is more competent - Sturgeon or Creepy Jim Murphy? The latter always reminds of the school teacher in the Another Brick In The Wall cartoon video...

I disagree with almost everything Sturgeon and the SNP stand for but I'll agree they are running a very tight ship and a slick operation. They remind me of the early days of "New Labour" I think they're wrong but do respect how far they've come and how they appear to have turned a defeat into a victory.

So as the article said :-

“A blanket drop would cost businesses millions of pounds because it will reduce their efficiency and there are other cost-effective ways to reduce traffic, particularly in cities,”

And the reduction of the drinking limit has resulted in even more drinking dens closing, are they trying to totally bugger up the country.

Get real and let's educate pedestrians, like look before you cross, look as you cross, take the fecking earphones out, and put the mobile off, pay attention, cars kill if you if you walk in front of them. Sorted.
