Tain has Tesco momentum, down by the railway station and pay at the pump.

Off topic but I really think that drone photography is giving us a view of places like this that most folk will never have seen. The British isles are stunning, people just spend too much time looking in the wrong direction.

So good that I (very annoyingly) can't work out where photo above is, when a shot closer to the road I would have had a much better chance of biggrin

Funnily enough I'm posting about this tomorrow. This (from sea level) looks just like a boring old rock, I mean, REALLY boring. ... but from above:

Heading up with eleven other cars on Friday for 10 days. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind and the midges will be on holiday. If you're up that way and spot a gaggle of Lotuses, give us a wave

Carter - some amazing photos, can't wait for our trip in August!

Rocco - nice group of cars, I'm heading up in my VX220, and I can see there was one in your group. I was wondering whether I would be ok with the top down in prime midges season, or whether I just needed to go with the hardtop on...either way can't wait!

There are good ways and bad ways of driving the NC500. This is one of the bad ways (especially when you are being filmed).

Really tempted to go again next year in the summer, some of these shots look amazing.

Might also need to invest in a drone too.

No problem without a roof, it's not been an issue with neither a roof nor windscreen and I live there driving

Midges, even when at their horrible worst, can only fly very slowly. So if you are rolling you will be fine with top down. Its when you stop that they will start trying to drive you mad.

Looks like you had perfect weather! One week to go for us exactly. So excited!
Anyone got any "must sees/dos" on the route?
