No chance, the whole things buckled.
I had one worse than that, popped it in to Jason at Rimtech in Inverness, picked it up an hour later perfect...

A few beers on the drive round might help. laugh

They could have at least made the beer something a bit more special than a low ABV IPA.

You guys have got me a little worried.
Avoiding potholes is difficult at the best of times. I have an audi with (silly) 21" alloys. I hope I don't come back with 50p shaped wheels. I am very fussy when it comes to vibrations too due to small kinks from potholes.

Well in feb we were advised to avoid the roads for the next few months....some puddles with deep potholes.

They've been going round filling them (knowing that the place is about to get crowded). Just be careful of puddles if it's wet. (We are almost in drought territory here as there has been so little rain, so no prob at the moment)

I'm heading up in mid April, I guess I should make sure I have recovery.

How is the AA/RAC/Green flag services up there? Is there one that's better than the others?

Or do they all use local contractors?

Ok, thank you.

I'll look to see who can give cover to a 16 year old car.

We're going up in the 'van in June. I stupidly paid for the 'personalised itinerary' from the NC500 website - specifically mentioning we wanted to do a bit of moderate cycling whilst up there - and they completely ignored this request. Wish I hadn't bothered now!

Which leaves the question - if we want to spend a few afternoons on the bikes (me on my hybrid, her on a 7 speed 'Dutch' style bike) - so nothing too challenging - what would be recommended?

I think we've planned 7 nights overall.

Couple of nice rides here - off road but unless it's been raining hard, fairly easy. The one on the left is all off road (takes you to the Torridon Inn!) the one on the right is 40% tarmac then track.

Both have fab views:

Thanks, I'll have a look, but don't think the other half on her 'call the midwife' bike wants off-road!

Was West End Garage (also Lochcarron) for me (via AA) when the Monaro had an unintended deflation near Attadale. Lift back to Lochcarron where we were staying. Lunchtime pint in the Lochcarron Hotel and could watch the 'ro climbing onto the back of a truck opposite. The other side of the loch!
New tyre over from Inverness and back on the road within 24hrs.
Good service.
