Hi, our F11 520d is needing a 'oil service and vehicle inspection' now our service pack deal with BMW has expired. I am having trouble finding a local independent specialist - Motor technology seem to be the main option but none of the contacts I have seem to be working.

Ashton motors are the other option locally, but they are a bit back street maybe - the sad truth is I mainly need a place with a convincing looking letterhead so that the service history looks nice for resale, as well as the up to date diagnostics to reset the service indicator.. :-)

Anybody recommend another place in Perth or Edinburgh? I know there are places in Glasgow but I am never over there.

Cheers

Yes thanks I was looking at them, wife is in Edinburgh next monday..I am going to compare quotes but from their website quotes they arent much cheaper than the main dealer. Any feedback about them?

From Google, looks like Motor Technology have gone into liquidation sadly.

You are aware that they moved to The Kingsway a couple of years ago?

Ashton Motors have been in business for many years so must be doing something right.

Thanks guys, I think Ashton Motors are where I will go..I am never (knowingly) in Kirkcaldy LOL.

Ashton have indeed been around a while, they used to be in the units off Blackness road round the corner from my flat back in the 90s.

Shame about motor technic especially as they used to be 2 minutes from my work..Seems there is a market for a specialist German car indie in the Dundee area just now..

I can shed some light on this.

A few weeks ago, a chap round the corner from me randomly stopped to ask me where I put my car for servicing as he said Chris at Motor Technology is packing it in to work for Autoecosse. Think you'd still be able to get Chris to work on your car though through them.

Ashton is known as brilliant with the old stuff but I've been told he's not keen on the new stuff, although can't imagine an oil service being too much trouble.

Barry Yacomini in Broughty Ferry is very german orientated - he served his time at Ashton Motors - give him a call:

Spoke to Gordon at Ashton Motors and sure enough he politely declined having anything to do with me. He suggested Barry..

So, just back from Barry..nice guy, quick work, oil service and fuel, oil and air filters for half the price of a basic main dealer service. Not the most salubrious of locations (even though it is in the Ferry!) but I'm happy enough..

A bit of a blast from the past but I find my self in Dundee today needing a good indie who can plug my car in and see what the problem is with it...any suggestions guys? Would prefer not to have to use a oily rutted track to get there if you know what I mean!
Thanks
