On a similar note, just when the traffic is flowing well around the lights at the Kingswells roundabout and the hold ups are minimal - along comes a Siemens van with a guy altering the settings..... and it gets worse again.

You'd think it was in the council's interest to keep long queues every day...

And don't get me started on the new bit of the A947 just outside Dyce where the new two lane / merge in turn bit is for ornamental purposes only.
This so much, if you dare to use the second lane, people go out of their way to stop you merging. It's madness.

Been like that for years. I used to work in Westhill, long before PrimeFour went in, or even most of the newish buildings like Taqa, Subsea7 (now Total) etc. appeared. Tailbacks at 5pm went all the way from the Kingswells P&R roundabout all the way back past the 5 mile garage to where the big bypass roundabout is now even then. For a couple of weeks one summer the lights on the roundabout were broken. No tailbacks, certainly on that section of road. They fixed the lights and it was back to SNAFU again.

I can't say what the impact was for traffic hitting that roundabout from the North or South roads while the lights were out though but I guess some/most of that traffic will take the actual bypass once it finally opens. That may mean the lights on the roundabout could be changed or even removed, perhaps. Logically speaking only, of course.

I've often wondered if that is the case, to try and encourage people to use more public transport. Can't be doing the emissions levels in those areas any good at all.

There are numerous sets of lights around the city that could be switched off outside peak hours, or even altogether to improve traffic flow.

Any time I’m going to Inverness, the A96 is the last road I would use. Most of the time I go via Dufftown, Aberlour, Garntown then onto the A9 ......you will always get there quicker than going up the 96.

I’ve seen it in Westhill around Tesco a couple of times before, so I suspect he works in the oil offices there..... definitely not the type of car you’d expect to be lane hogging holding people up!

RS only got a mention because of the PH-worthy car. By no means the worst or the only offender.

If we named and shamed every culprit this would the longest thread on PH! smile

1 on the way home last night, and 2 this morning. I'm not aggressive or a big speeder, I'm just trying to do 70-75ish.

I'm Insch to Dyce and it's dreadful. Normally i see the same car (Fiat 500 or Astra) from around inverurie just sit in the outside lane 55mph max all the way with not a care in the world what's behind them. Pull away from roundabouts and takes an age to get to 50mph because there is a lorry 2 miles ahead they need to pass.....so frustrating!

Then as said earlier by a poster, i have some guy right up my backside tailgaiting but they can't look 2 cars ahead to see it's not me holding everyone up and if i move over they won't get any further and i'll be stuck in lane 1 as nobody dare let me out in front of them back into lane 2 furious

For going home i take the back roads to past Kirkhill to Fintray, then a left and then after about a mile a right along the huge straight which eventually takes you out onto the road to Keithall and into Inverurie! Can easy save 15mins + going that way home.

I notice that following the contraflow outside the new AECC, there is going to be yet another set of traffic lights installed, and what looks like the post for a bus lane camera on the city bound side.

I don't know about anyone else, but it's very rare that I can get across the new airport roundabout without getting stopped by at least one set of lights on it, even when traelling at 2am and there's no-one else on the road.

I am sure this in nothing to do with that roundabout being a nice big open one that can be drifted or taken at the nation speed limit.... biggrin

The amount of times I get flashed for overtaking on clear and open stretches never ceases to entertain me yet equally frustrate me.
This!

It's so annoying. For some reason, to them, average speed cameras = no overtaking.

Does anyone know if the average speed cameras operate on the duel carriageway areas? Constantly getting overtaken by people doing 80+.

AMEN to that! I have the joys of a very short commute from Inverurie to Kintore for work, and I agree with the thoughts that manners are generally good for trying to get out of streets etc in Inverurie (minus the odd grumpy sod)!

I'm loving the LoK roundabout stuff though, I am the guy that just breezes past everyone sitting in Lane 1 making the consious choice to go through Inverurie to get home as the bypass is a joke... And I hate the roundabout at Morrisons as nobody seems to understand the lane discipline! I got cut up very badly the other week by an actual child in a 'limited edition' corsa with a PH sticker in the window. Whoever you are, twunt, you need neutered, oh and banned from here.
I find the LoK RaB funny more than irritating. Just yesterday seen someone enter it on the right hand lane going straight on to the bypass even though there was no traffic. Was probably a overtaking lane hogger all the way from Aberdeen. You also see people during rush hour who think they're being smart and doing a 360 on the roundabout. Also see many during rush hour trying to dive in and failing as people are closing the gap so quickly.

The Morrison's roundabout is a lottery when turning right. People fail to understand that you can turn right there in both far right lanes to get into inverurie. I've just accepted fate during rush hour not and to avoid clueless people I just go far right lane then keep on to go straight at the next roundabout. Funnily enough though, it's still impossible to avoid the clueless here. Usually find the ones who can't navigate the previous roundabout properly also do not give any berth to the cars taking the 3rs exit when they themselves are on the 2nd. Avoid entering that roundabout at the same time as much as I can nowadays.
