Looking for amateur photos from the 70's and 80s from the Kelvin hall and SECC.
Share any photos you have or I'll purchase collections. Let me know what you have.

It would be worth asking on the tartan tarmac Facebook page, you’ll far more response than here these days.

Thanks for that, I've posted on there just now. Hoping people will share, there's a real shortage of amateur photos out there.

Still looking if anyone has any old photos tucked away. Doesn't matter the quality.

No photos unfortunately, but I remember getting Darius Dziekanowski and Darius Wdowczk's autographs at the motor show, probably about 1989 - they were on the FSO stand when they were making a real attempt to break into the UK market. Both were fairly new signings at Celtic at the time.

Was the show not also the commercial show? I vaguely remember an HGV tractor unit hanging from the Finnieston Crane during the motor show.

Yes, cars and lorries. An annual family day out. Only ever went to the SECC once, didn't have the same atmosphere, or perhaps I was getting too old. Still got a bag of leaflets somewhere from the late 70s/early 80s.

I should have some old 126 photos kicking around. In a related note I found this in a box of childhood stuff in the loft a few days ago.

No pictures but came across my SMTA season pass for the 53rd show from the 13th to 21st November 1981 the other day . Earlier still , I loved taking the cars down to the Kelvin Hall and onto our stand ( R.S.Logan Ltd . Jordanhill ) Positioning them and final preparation got me away from the garage for a while .

Remember as a young kid going home with a bag full of brochures also how we could only see the luxury cars from afar , separated by a rope cordon and sometimes a commissionaire on the stand .

My favourite day as a young boy was the car show in the SECC. I can express how excited I was and how I replayed the day in my head for the rest of the year. I used to as for every player, free gift and sit in every car possible. Lunch was a burger and chips in a restaurant that resembled a Wimpey. When me and my dad left my dad would always by a Feast ice lollies from the WH Smith in the foyer. When my dad passed away it was one of my strongest memories we had together. I took my nephew and was emotional especially when we bought Feast ice lollies together lol.

I hope it returns.

Love this thread. Went to every show from 82 onwards. Still have almost every brochure and guidebook (and the red jag somewhere) Remember going round the exotics first, then the mainstream, quick look round the commercials then back round again. And yup burger and chips for me too. The excitement at school knowing you were going that night. Then getting home and looking through all the brochures. Happy days
