Anyone had diamond cut wheels refurbed and not lasting a year without white milky marks appearing under the lacquer?

May be down to the quality of work.

I’ve got a couple of damaged diamond cuts not sure wether to just powder coat them.

yes

I took my current Merc back to Glasgow Mercedes as all 4 wheels looked like that at 2yrs old.

They replaced 2 wheels under warranty which 2yrs later look like new, and they got the other 2 refurbished at a place in Port Dundas, and they started going milky around the centre caps after about a year.

I think it's down to a poor job as they haven't been subjected to cheapo carwash acidic cleaners that would break down the lacquer..

Any recommendations for someone in North Ayrshire?

Scuffed one of the rears on the slk and one of the fronts on the mx5. Purely cosmetic but annoying nonetheless.

Diamond cut finishes just don't last. Refubs never last that long even if you wax or coat them and make an effort to keep them clean.

Hardly anyone doing diamond cut wheels is brave enough to offer a year's guarantee like they do with other finishes.

Probably better getting them powder coated.

Smart repairers can do localised repairs on the diamond cut finishes. If the wheel isn't kerbed this is possibly a sensible method rather than a full refurb. It'll save the metal on the face until they really need machined back.

I’am planning doing some wet and dry with a bit of oil on a small section and resealing with lacquer to see how it looks before going for the full refurb.

Not quite North Ayrshire but theres a place in Kilmarnock called Stiggy Motorsport which does amazing work. Did 2 x gloss black refurbs on my wife’s Mini which included repairing some serious scuffing first. Also did 2 x diamond cut refurbs on my Porsche as they had started to get the milky residue on top of a bit of kerb rash. He’s meticulous in doing repairs and in the finish which is like glass. Well worth a try.

Thanks very much.

I used smart fx in Irvine for the mazda wheel and its come out great but he doesn't fancy the diamond cut refurb and powder coating on the merc.
