Cars and Coffee Scotland?

Reading about all these cool drop in, hang out places down south, is there anything equivalent up here? I'm not on faceache or social media and have no interest in being so. Maybe I'm missing out? I'd imagine with all the great roads about, there must be somewhere like Crieff / Callendar / Dunblane that is fairly central for most people for a morning drive out?

There's a Garden Centre, Motherwell area(?) that has a meet once a month on a Sunday morning. Well over 100 cars on a dry day.

Have a look ,as said the one run by Lanarkshire Classic at the Greenside garden centre last Sunday of the month. 10-1 Free food to buy
Paisley meet 2nd Sunday of the month at St Mirrens football ground. 9-12 Free food to buy

Tartan Tarmac last Sunday of month 9-12 Larkhall kart circuit the largest by far but unfortunately the owners of the site put up admission a few times which gave you a roll and a cupa from £5 then £6.50 now £8.50 all prepaid and loads thought circuit was taking the P***
so not sure how things are going forward next year hard to get a venue ...nothing to do with the TT team they are a great bunch .have held meets at various locations >Motherwell college was best over 1000 turned up each month . Euro central Maxim park .Transport museum but was spoiled by some irresponsible driving by a few . Milano Cumbernauld was used limited spaces food to buy but free to turn up but pr booked due to numbers .

So if anyone knows of a vast car park in the central belt away from residential houses give me a shout and will pass on details to TT Team

Cheers - could do with some entrepreurial car enthusiast type setting up an enthusiasts destination. i can see that the 'once a month' thing risks it being overwhelmed then nothing, but a full time place to head to would be cool. I guess there isn't the sort of car culture here as there is in other places. Shame.

There's one in Inverness 2nd Sunday each month, last meet of this year is tomorrow .

There’s a place in Linlithgow called Archangel Speed Shop that have converted part of their premises to host car club meetings etc. They’re both really nice guys and total petrol heads.

Worth giving them a shout to see if they fancy hosting something, they don’t do food but had approached the local food van about opening up on a Saturday to cater for meetings.

10 cars will fill that up even at the weekends and way too many NIMBYs in the local area.

Whilst I agree Linlithgow is full of halfwits I doubt that 10 cars will fill an entire industrial estate on a Saturday. If people can behave I doubt there would be a problem.

That industrial estate has tiny roads and theres a kids soft play thats next door to the garage thats busy.

There's quite a few good locations around for a coffee and a blether, but the issue is if they spiral into higher numbers... it becomes an issue. So you either need to keep in very low key / between mates or just attend something established like the Tartan Tarmac mornings and such like. Always felt Knockhill could do something semi-regular, static meet in Paddock 2 with coffee and bacon rolls.

There's a small cafe a couple of miles north of me, car park would hold maybe 25 cars, never been, think it's trying to be a bit 50's/60's Ace cafe???

I started running car meets and coffee and dinner meets on here many years ago and brought together the guys who now run Tartan Tarmac who all attended my events.
I looked at running or opening a place along the style of the Ace Cafe in Park Royal in London. I visited it several times as its close to my family down there.
I looked at various sites around Central Scotland for a possible venue and discussed this with a friend in catering who had a similar idea. I also looked at it for a venue to go along with a car related development that some friends were trying to float.
The biggest issue is getting somewhere central that people will visit if setting up a bespoke place. Otherwise you are arranging a car meeting at a venue which may have sufficient parking to suit.
I do not think there is any economic case for an Ace style venue here in Scotland. There are not enough car clubs/ people in them/ people willing to come out to run a venue where you need to pay staff/rent/stock for occasional visits.
My advice is:
If you want events, organise, publicise in certain specific groups/forums/club forums/ etc and let it happen.
The TT guys were priced out of Larkhall circuit by the owner. Great venue in every respect. If people want a free meeting with no financial input in paying to be there or to buy anything, then its a car park meet. Let us not pretend otherwise.
I tried to organise an event in Hillington but ran into issues with the local authority and police.
If you organise and something goes wrong, then you may be personally liable.
I hope these experiences and research help.

Tyndrum is a good call, if you can find a space amongst the bikers and tourists.

I stop here frequently when going hillwalking, it's often hard enough to get one car parked and get back onto the main road afterwards in-between traffic, nevermind have a meet there.

The best idea so far would seem to be Knockhill for Sunday Morning breakfast meet. Would probably be central enough to appeal to North,South,East and West which probably helps!

Autobahn Scotland have regular monthly meetings at the car park near the rail bridge in South Queensferry. They’re free to attend & attract a diverse selection of interesting machinery. There’s a cafe opposite for coffee & rolls. They’re a friendly bunch, I’d recommend it. :

Queensferry is one of my favourite places to go- normally early morning on my motorbikes. The bikers cove is very popular there- beside the hawes inn and i have quite often talked with supercar owners who have attended the car meet. I like both cars and bikes and think alot of the car meets would be enriched with bikes attending and vice versa- in the end we are all petrol heads with a shared passion. Il try and attend bills breakfast meets more often next year which i enjoy going to- i might even bring the benelli if the weathers nice and it starts!
