Hello, my daughter is looking to go to see the Van Gogh exhibition in Festival Square, Edinburgh. We don't know the area well at all. Is there an obvious place to park nearby and are parking restrictions different if we were to go on a Sunday?

Parking restrictions apply on a sunday too.

There is a car park under the Sheraton hotel at the back of Festival square but its expensive.

If you are just doing a day trip. I would park the car in Sighthill Industrial estate, get the tram into the west end of Princes street and walk up Lothian road to Festival square.

NCP Castle Terrace is nearby - also has some decent spaces around the curved ramps: https://goo.gl/maps/oV12aLqvDR8DXSHd9

Van Gogh Live is pretty awesome, went a few weeks ago. Enjoy.

It is used for a Farmers market on Saturday mornings though and last year was a Fringe venue (August). Not sure if its being used this year but it wouldnt suprise me if it is.

NCP Castle Terrace is very expensive, so brace yourself.

Alternatively, the buses in Edinburgh are really good. A lot of people park near the ski centre at Hillend and bus it in from there, but not sure if this will suit - depends what direction you're coming into Edinburgh from.

There are also plenty of park and rides around the outskirts which have a good reputation too.

Just street park, castle terrace or spittal street behind lothian road. Council charge for sunday parking now 12.30pm to 6.30pm so either go in morning or park outside zoned areas and take tram in, around back of Murrayfield stadium is good for this as you can easily park and jump on stadium tram stop.
