Hello all, looking for recommendations for somewhere in the central belt to do the cambelt and waterpump change on a 1.0 Fiesta Ecoboost. Been quoted £1450 by Ford but windering if there are any independents that do a lot of these at a lower cost? Thanks

Holy st, £1450 just to change the cambelt? WTF is it made of?

Unless there is something unique about that engine/car I'd expect you'll find any number of places able to do it far cheaper than that. Last car I had with a timing belt cost me I think about £250 to have it changed. Any competent mechanic should be able to change a belt.

It’s not a straightforward job on the EcoBoost - around 9 hours labour from memory, and special tools required.

Thanks all. Yes, seems a pretty labour intensive job to do due to the strange design where the belt actually runs through the engine oil. Hoping that I can get it done at a more reasonable. Given how many of these engines are out there you would think a number of independents would be able to offer a lower cost option

On the linked thread you will see we got the job done at an independent in Cumbria, both belts, water pump and sump cleaned. Fresh oil and filter all in at around £700.

Had similar situation with my sons’ Focus last month. We were quoted between £2000 and £2500 from Ford
Went to Merlin Motors in Portobello for £1200 including new water pump. Took 2 days.

I wasn't sure if Merlin Motors still existed. That answers that question.
