A725 EKB Expressway... who changed the speed limit?

Unfortunately this stretch has a history of bad crashes, especially coming "downhill" from EK to the Raith - mostly because of bad road conditions and people not giving due consideration. They have also reduced the other side (the bellshill bypass) from the raith to the M8 to a 50 limit - that side I am unaware of any "good" reason.
I was disappointed that the change in limit was not accompanied by temporary warning signs saying as much. Was done last week on Tuesday evening - the NSL signs are still there, jsut spray-painted out.

Is the whole of the A725 from east kilbride to raith interchange now a 60 limit? If so that really is stupid. The only dodgy bit is when it travels through blantyre and the road gets rediculously bendy.
Oh, anyone else here from East Kilbride?

Yep, 60 all the way. I believe the main problem is the blantyre twisties and the fact the following juction (Hamilton International Tech park) sometimes queues back onto the expressway. I agree they could just drop that bit and leave the rest - especially in the other direction.

I work in EK and travel that road almost daily (although I haven't been that way since Wednesday).
There are 3 problems as I see it:
1. the wee twisty bit, where people just fall off the road, and not because of their speed - you can take that twisty bit at 80, easy, in any reasonable saloon car,
2. there is often a queue at Whistleberry Toll, and people seem to specialise in stuffing themselves into the back of it, at whatever speed they were doing,
3. the bit leading uphill to the Whirlies where people push back in at the last possible minute, so they can pass as many busses, JCBs, dawdlers etc as possible.
None of these problems strike me as speed-related - sure the consequences might be less at a lower speed, but dozy drivers will be dozy drivers, whatever their speed.

I live in Hamilton and work in Cathcart and it's now got to the stage where i'm avoiding the A725 whereever possible. Too many tossers and the speed limit just seems to jump around from 50 - 60 - 50.
Most amusing / worrying bit is if you are coming from Bellshill / M74 and you take the first cut off to Blantyre you can techncially speed up as the slip road is a 60 limit untit you pass the Toyota garage. 60 past two dealerships is safe but 50 on a dual carriageway isn't ?
