Ever seen Cairo or Lagos road traffic ??? - This will be the norm in a few years time in the UK. Sad, but I have to say that standards of driving are dropping like a stone.

Just back from Egypt, and after a harrowing 7 hour taxi ride from El Tur to Cairo, at night, they either come at you on FULL beam, or NOTHING, cant work that one out.

And agree standards are dropping like a stone. My pet hate today, driving south from Aberdeen on the A90, spot on 70, (cruise control switched on), outside lane, coz the car on the inside is doing just over 50 (estimate), as we approach the slip road from Altens, where a truck is coming down to join the A90, car doing 50 pulls smartly out to let him in, causing me to jump on the breakes...... for gods sake people, read and inwardly digest your highway code. I will always do the same providing it does not cause any other driver to slow down, and I am pretty sure the lorry driver would have been aware that his was up to him to merge in with the vehicles already on the dual carriageway. Wakey wakey Aberdonians.

In Egypt they think they are saving the bulbs in the headlights if they turn them off. I know, I asked my taxi driver why he was driving without lights.

Tell you what I see alot of up this way.. Folks indicating to turn right at a roundabout and then heading straight on. Surely this is a basic part of understanding the rules of indication & roundabouts? Must see this at least twice a week whilst travelling around.

Sadly an awful lot of drivers have absolutely no idea of roundabout disclipline, the worst offenders must be, I think those who frequent ASDA at Portlethen.

There am I waiting to come out of ASDA, (roundabout), cars coming down the road to my right, NO INDICATORS, so I assume they are going to drive past me, and then indicate for the next left turn, WRONG, they turn immedidately left into ASDA, if they had indicated, I could have been gone by then.

Same when you are waiting at a "T" junction to turn right, along comes a car from the right, almost on the turn, quick flash of the nearside indicator and they zip past around the corner................grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Nah, the worst offenders for roundabouts are definitely in Livingston. Probably not helped by the terrible road lay out in the place though.

Its interesting how many swear words you can get out when the car in front of you uses the left lane approaching the roundabout when their obvious intention all along was to turn right. They always seem to wait until I'm pulling alongside them before the drift into the right lane as well...
