Q for the hillclimbers

I have an open face helmet. If I decide to compete in the Elise, do I need a full face helmet or is the open face one acceptable?

(BTW, hope you'll all be at Fintray on Sunday to start the big clean up - it's fairly horrific just now with the landowner building his new house)

Open face is OK in a road class car for sure as that's what I use in a Fisher Fury with windscreen.

Is Trevor to announce a work party this Sunday? I've heard nothing.

I thought I'd be ok with the open face thanks to the full windscreen. Still haven't decided if I'm going to use the Elise or not. The Nissan needs a lot of work (ie, I haven't started prep-ing it yet). I really fancy taking an Elise up Doune - just not mine!

Although an open face helmet is OK, I would not chance it. Many years ago I crash-tested an Austin Healey in the side of a brand new Mercedes. The Merc was written off - needless to say so was the Healey, but not before the steering column had came back (the car was 18" shorter after the shunt) and wacked my chin with the steering wheel.

With multiple jaw fractures and several teeth crushed (yes, crushed), I would not risk an open face helmet in any circumstances, but that's just me.

One the positive side, the compensation paid the deposit on our first house, but I would not recommend it as a career....

I'm OK with an open face though coz I don't go fast enough to hurt my choppers in an old Lotus! (not caterham!)

Not now you can't.... anyway it's still nippier than one of these Ginetta kit car thingies......Oops didn't mean it (I'd still quite like a shottie of that quite nice silver one someone's got..)
