Back from The Highlands

Just got back from our holiday in The Highlands, covering a total of 2242 miles in 2 weeks. Thanks to those fellow P'hers who recommended routes, roads, places to visit, etc, all proved very useful. 
After spending our first week in Lewiston on the shore of Loch Ness, we then ventured right up to Durness via the A836 and the Kyle of Tongue, and then back down the West coast via Ullapool, Shieldaig, Applecross and Plockton, then Skye, Mallaig and Ft William.
Covered some fantastic roads, lovely scenery, but a little wet at times. I think we missed the best weather by a few days!

Steve, I was keeping an eye out for your Aston, but didn't spot you. 
Come to think of it, we didn't see much auto exotica at all; I thought there'd be more enjoying the roads up there.
We did bump into one other Pistonheader in Inverness....recognised him because he drives another Monaro!
Just spotted the build blog on your website. Looks very entertaining...I'll have to sit down and read it properly some time. Your house looks very impressive indeed.

Craig, on the way to Applecross, we started pass in the rain and then disapeared into the clouds somewhere near the top of the pass...it certainly made for interesting driving in the fog!
The above pics were taken on the return journey by which time the cloud had started to lift and we could see some of Skye. Would love to do the drive again on a sunny evening.

Steve I have your site as one of my favourites and have been through your whole house build - looks fantastic, however a tad stressful by the sounds of things!! Alot more patience than i would ever have....

Cheers John. Even though the blog is really just therapy to stop me hitting plumbers, it's good to know people are reading it - Just in case they have the stupid idea that it would be good to self build!
