Anyone know what 'Traffic Signal Cameras' are? As opposed to speed cameras? A couple of new signs have appeared by Bridge of Orchy on A82 with normal speed camera logo, as below, but saying 'Traffic Signal Camera' under it instead. Any ideas?

Down south traffic signal cameras are placed to catch amber/red light runners. If there are road works on the moor road, then maybe they have been placed to catch similar - late at night ??

who me ?

They'd fill you boots with cement and chuck you in the Thames if you did that down south. Not sure about up here. Personally I refuse to sit at red traffic lights when you can see a mile ahead and the 10 yards you have to pass will take 3 seconds... but I amazed at how many do (and I do feel it it's a bit agressive to hoot or overtake cars sitting at red traffic lights!... common sense or not, I'm sure the BiB would take a dim view).

"Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men." A good maxim (attributed to Oscar Wilde but I can't find the quote) and one I was most impressed with aged 12 when reading "Reach for the Sky". It was a favourite principle of my father's (as well as Douglas Bader). Not too popular with those in authority however who like compliance.

I prefer the Colin Chapman variation...
"Rules are for the interpretation of wise men and the obedience of fools."

This is a popular urban myth. Jump a red light with camers - any red light - and they will get you...

I saw the sign yesterday and it prompted a fair discussion between myself and the GF.

Our only possible conclusion was there must be a rail crossing nearby that has a signalled gate.
I also like the sign leaving Glencoe that warns of twisty roads for 790yds. I would have felt cheated if they told me it was twisty for 1/2 mile and it straightened out 10 yds early.
