i know its not camera related but it is about speeding on the a9
i just got done last thursday. coming south to inverness, they were just sitting after the tore roundabout behind some bushes and got me on radar doing 94mph, i got 3 points and a £60 fine. the coppers were actually pretty nice ones. we had a laugh and a joke and they liked my car so was showing them under the hood and all lol

JAMMY LITTLE B***************RD lol. Never thought you motor went that fast lol.

They usually like to sit up on the left behind a sign 1/4 mile before the roundabout.

I got stopped by the same Coppers last Saturday on radar too. 138 miles per hour they clocked me at. Not to worry though, I gave them your name and address Tony laugh

That Sucks,

Ive got 10 points, all for speeding on the A96.

Caught first time at the Top of the crawler lane at Alves doing 79mph in the 60mph zone in my Evo.

Second time at the end of the long straight heading to Inverness from Alves this time 94mph in the 60mph zone in one of my imprezas.

On both occassions the police were HIDDEN and both occassions it was about 10pm on a sunday night.

Total 10 points for two speeding tickets, man it sucks.

July will see 4 of the points become void in the eyes of the court.

I have to admit it has seriously slowed me down, but I was very angry when I got them !!

You must all be dodging the potholes on the A9 to get up to these speeds

You've got to love the places they pick. Another one is further North at the Mound. If you're heading South its a great overtaking opportunity - a big downhill with plenty of visibility. Its only great until you glimpse the white van through the bushes on the right hand side of the road, followed by the emergence of a brightly dressed copper and radar gun.

Just going back to the cameras for a moment; the flash unit and camera are separate and all flash units now give 2 flashes. The only way to find out if there's a camera there is listen for the 'thud' of the NIP hitting your hallway carpet, or look at the front of the GATSO where you can see the lens of the camera behind the window - obviously that ain't gonna help if you're speeding at that precise moment!!! Most cameras are digi now with practically limitless memory so no hoping for run-out film.
